Cecylia Anna Maliszewska-Kobryńska (*1904, Warsaw) – my dear aunt. The first child of Teodozja and Andrzej. As an infant, a year after birth, she set off with her parents towards Crimea, where the young father was to have his lungs treated. She spent her first 18 years in Yalta. Tall, well-built, confident. Practical, pragmatic and often domineering. The opposite of her younger sister, Lili, who was a petite and exotic butterfly full of flirtatiousness and sensuality. Both had beautiful, lush hair. And Cecylia was even better at this.
After Crimea – joyful but also tragic – followed Warsaw. And soon then after - an invitation from her father staying in France, where Cesia would spend five years. From 1930 – Warsaw again, but slowly also Poznań: cooperation with her sister in running a beauty salon.
And, in Poznań, at the end of the 1930s, a man appeared – her fiancé, finally her husband – Wiktor Kobryński. Their only child, Jędruś, was born in the autumn of 1939. In the middle of the heavy winter of 1939/40, they were brutally thrown out of their Poznań apartment by the Germans invading Poland and loaded by them onto wagons heading southeast, together with hundreds other people of the same fate. They spent the time of occupation relatively safely in Stalowa Wola. After the war, they returned to Poznań.

I remember Aunt Cesia as a very energetic person, very devoted to all of us, which I recall with pleasure today. She outlived her younger sister Lili, my Mom, by many years.
