Rhode Island Reds and Buff Orpingtons love them both
ОтветитьI was not as lucky as you with the Marans, I was told the chick was a black copper Marans, but turned out to be a blue, still beautiful chocolate eggs though. I have a new coocoo Marans that should be laying in Oct-Nov along with our new Olive eggers.
My Buff Orbingtons are sweet lap dogs.
We also have the light and the speckled Sussex, Plymouth bared rock, and one Green Egger, and blue laced Wyandotte.
Due to some mislabeled Araucana chicks we ended up with the Appenzeller Spitzhauben chicks. Not a welcome surprise.
We only want dual purpose and mixed egg colors.
My black copper maran is awesome!!! Her sister a blue copper maran is actually skittish but My friendlies is my chocolate Orpington. Very beautiful chickens you have!!!!
ОтветитьI personally do not like Rhode Island reds I know a lot of people like the Rhode Island Red chickens the reason I don't is we've had two in the past and they have both been very aggressive hands and very bully
ОтветитьI personally love the Easter eggers years ago we bought one we were told it was going to be a hand however he turned out that he was a rooster. That didn't care to us we had named him Easter we had white leghorns at the time that he made it with it then we incubated some of the white eggs white leghorns that we had. And one of the chicks was solid white we named her snow but she laid the most beautiful sky blue egg the other chickens that we had were brown egg layers that he made it with and a few of them wound up laying out of colored eggs. But are Easter eggers that we didn't have originally laid pink blue and a light green egg
ОтветитьMy experience is that the friendly the breeds make the worst breeds for free range chickens.
ОтветитьI like the silkie chickens. 🐓
ОтветитьIm team Isa Brown.
ОтветитьI never care about egg shell color. The only birds I raise are Coturnix quails, which are very quiet and can lay a lot of nutritious and delicious eggs with a lot less feed and space. They're more like pets to me. And they produce very high quality fertilizer for my vegetable garden.
ОтветитьI know this is an older video but great information! My favorites are eastereggers as well! I love the earmuffs! I just got some Black Copper Marans so excited to get some dark eggs. You are spot on regarding Americauna and Eastereggers. Some stores will sell eastereggers as Americana (missing the U). They are just eastereggers though. If they are a true Americauna they will lay a light blue egg, not green, not olive.
Ответитьit is marans evens a single hen is called marans as marans is where they originate .
I hope that helped .
20 Rhode Island Reds for us all hens egg laying only
ОтветитьI love buff orphington and the lace chicken
ОтветитьI think it is a good breed of chicken, but how many eggs does it produce in one year?
Ответитьnovegen brown is only great chicken breed to have
ОтветитьI agree 100% , my Easter eggers are my lovey babies, I call them my house chickens because one hen (and her mother before her) will follow so close behind me that when I open the door she’ll sneak in the house without me even noticing! They are just like you said, they love pets and they’ll let the kids just walk right up and pick them up and give them a hug!
ОтветитьI am new to farming but we have novogen chickens they lay a ton of eggs and they're friendly my boys can pet them whenever they want
ОтветитьDo you wash your eggs? And if so, how and with what soap?
ОтветитьYou have a personality that shines. I subscribed just for that.
ОтветитьAfter 54 years of having chickens , My favorite breeds are golden comet ( red star ), speckled Sussex and Buff Orpington or Barnvelder .
I had a golden Comet ( red star) lay a egg that was 2 1/2 “x 4” at one time .
Do you have green eyes?
ОтветитьIn our 20's my husband and I had Araucanas (south american) and White Leghorns. The Araucanas laid all colors of eggs - pink, blue, green, etc. I never hear of those anymore. The Leghorns were egg laying machines, the Araucanas were more like game hens...super personalities, and topknots, feathered feet or legs. Super fun!
ОтветитьLeave it to a chick, no pun intended, to base her poultry preferences on aesthetics.
ОтветитьDo you sell fertilized eggs? I’m on the northern border of Wisconsin!
ОтветитьI love you!
ОтветитьWe had one laid bright pink eggs
ОтветитьBuff Orpingtons are amazing chickens
ОтветитьI love my old English Bantams
They're small and they're quiet and don't annoy me when singing for eggs 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Totally agree with your number one! I absolutely adore my little beauty and can’t wait to get more!!
ОтветитьSo the shell color is just aesthetics right? Im looking for good layers that are good around toddlers (twins 3 yr olds with ASD)
ОтветитьI feel like i need one of each! I can't have too many where we live. Would one of each work?? Or should there be more than one of each breed? They all seem to get along...
ОтветитьMy easter eggers will only actually lay in the winter. They will lay a few eggs in the summer, but normally only winter! I don not know why
ОтветитьThank you for sharing your ideas and selection of chicken breed for eggs. Drak shells eggs are being preferred for human consumption, even nutrition of egg is always same even it come from free range hen or some commercial farming. Egg is very important for human nutrition it has same amino acid profile like we need in our daily nutrition 😊😊😊thank you and love the way you presented your all practical knowledge that is very important
ОтветитьLike the silkys. 🐣🐥🐔🐓
ОтветитьYou are so happy, thanks for making me smile ❤
ОтветитьBlack Copper Moran?
ОтветитьSo pretty !
ОтветитьI love Orpingtons and Brabanters.Funny and super sweet.
ОтветитьAustralobe, outstanding.
ОтветитьThank you for your videos. I'm a newbie to chickens & have learned so much from you. I just ordered ordered my first 4 Easter eggers. You helped me decide which chicks to get.
ОтветитьMy French Black Maran is so sweet, but I can't help but think her face is so creepy... so she's one of my least favorites, but it's not her fault at all, haha
ОтветитьI keep going back to Ameraucana chickens, for their personable nature and those blue-green eggs.
ОтветитьHow does a newbie know which ones are Easter Eggert? What are the characteristics?
ОтветитьHow do I find out my city laws on chickens. I am about to dip my toes into owning a small flock of females. I am eyeing the easter eggers but open to looking at others too. My 1st need is friendly, these will be our pets and hoping not too loud, then if I get eggs thats a bonus. Thanks for your awesome videos.
ОтветитьWhy do my girls not seem to like the Grubterra? I offer them, they peck once and walk away
??
As the lady said it herself. There’s no official best 3 breeds in the world. Mainly because many of the good ones like the Broiler are not real breeds. And the vast majority of breeds including TRUE breeds that are morphologically and genotypically unique and unmatched are mostly Unkown. A good example would be the K.hexadactyl a 6 toed breed. Or the cerato shamo a HORENRD breed with real horn named after a dinosaur called ceratosauros. There’s also another that has only recently gained popularity called the parrot beak Asil which looks like an oviraptor. There’s many others like the super mix that is a rare hybrid that has every breeds trait. Ranging from bald neck, 5 toed, no tail, white lobes, feather crests, curly feathers, feathered feet, puffy cheek etc... and it’s a very expensive hybrid. Generally breeds that built for looks are very expensive same goes for exotic cockfight breeds.
ОтветитьYou mentioned a Chicken coop tent, but I can't find where you put it!
ОтветитьOur favorite breed so far is Sapphire Gem Plymouth Rocks!!! They are stunning and very very easy going and sweet and hardy and lay lots of large brown eggs! 🐓
ОтветитьMy favorite chicken breed it's chicken I don't know what type of breeds they are
