My question is when can we stop calling it mythology because it was actually real but as many things take time to come to light so will this.

This is interesting. I’ve heard another variation of this myth where the son seeks revenge...still from the same tradition. Nonetheless, I had to switch it up lol. The moon prince is one of my favorite myths that I used to tell my third graders. What’s the source of this myth? Is it from an anthology of African myths?

Same dude: marries one who will kidnap his son and swap it with a dog
Also same dude: proceeds to deem the whole ordeal as legit

So proud to be african, and i am very much digging this channel. Really big thumbs up. But i have to say, that it's very sad how women in mythology, no matter how powerful (queens, princesses) are often only as good as their son or father. It's really obvious that even legends, mythology, history.. are written through a man's perspective. In this story, the king divorced his first wife, then took her back, because of a "legitimate heir to the throne", which is very sad. In how i would like to remember this story, the king divorced his first wife because he was in love, and blinded by the idea of having a rightful son. His blindness and ignorance led him to feel betrayed, jealous and gullible when she gave birth to a puppy instead of a son. Thus showing that such a mindset never goes nowhere, and can lead a wise man to trust in lies and illusions.

So in ancient Africa all you needed to be a god king was a shiny polished White Rock glue to your chest or perhaps a necklace but to be a garden ancient Greece you had to build a blast lightning from your hands to be able to fly to have a chariot that controlled the Sun to be able to control the ocean but all you needed an ancient Africa was a shiny Rock glued to your chest

The guy has prophetic abilities and than that . . . Beeing special and gifted is often seen as a devined right to rule but that he fell for the puppy thing and punished the poor women showes, that maybe he was not the brightest, makeing the best decissions. In modern stories we got the same concept in the Tagaryens from Game of Thrones/asoiaf, their dragons mark them as "supirior" but looking behind that one finds it does not make them better rulers at all!

There are some great African mythologies that should be on tv shows and movies. I've seen Japanese, Native American, Norse, and Greek mythology on tv shows and movies and I would really love to see something different for once! The entertainment industry most likely doesn't think African mythology is worthy enough for all of people to see. Im sick and tired of us black people only being portrayed as gangs and drug dealers and shit! So many of the mythologies I've heard of have been from many different tv shows and it's always interesting to learn more and search up what certain words mean in different languages. I would love to watch a supernatural show where the main character or main characters are black.
