If you have a 2x6 wall and you need a shearwall there with 2-2x6. How do you include this 2-2x6? I mean just one 2x6 from the 2-2x6?

in construction everything is a hammer, unless it's a screwdriver, then it's a chisel.

Potentially silly question but am I right in thinking that that untreated plate he originally nailed around the perimeter is taken back off and becomes a top plate when it’s marked up alongside the bottom plate?

I notice when you frame the walls the on the ground one side of all the framing is flush. Is it more important to have flush framing on the inside or outside? Recently helped with T&G on an interior and some studs protruded out more than others so we had a lot of shimming to do.

The price of gas and electricity is too high we must use Japanese hand saws and other hand saws. Also the air nailer is fast but mindless, missing placements, hard to pull out missed shots, over powering, danger ,terrifying, and the scare is counterproductive. A house is a family home, we need to build it in a peaceful, respectful, and safe looking way.

Man seeing this really hurts haha. I've been trying to land a job in residential construction for about 6 months now. With no experience, no one is willing to give me a call back. I try to call into the companies I see posting on Indeed so I can talk with someone, but im always gate-kept by the receptionist! I just wanna learn the trade man, cmon! Tx NEED quality carpenters, but it seems no one is willing to train anyone anymore.

Do you watch the bow in the studs as you go? Does it matter for interrior versus exterior on which way the bow of the studs go?

Any reason you guys don't hold the headers up to the top plate and fill in below to the top of the window height?

Hi, fairly new to the channel but I noticed you are using a pneumatic nailer is that still better than a cordless framing nailer?

I find it interesting how you use 4x6 for headers in cali.
I’ve only ever done 2x10 for lintels up here in Manitoba.

Why do the plans call for 4x6 studs in some places instead of doubling up a 2x6? Same question for the 6x6 headers? Is it a local code requirement?

Hey Matt! Another great video. So interesting to see how this works. I do have a question, if you've got the time. What are the pieces of wood you put between the studs? I'd assume they are to strengthen the wall, but please correct me if I'm wrong.

Also, what is the advantage of using 4x4s instead of 2x4s for some of the studs? Is this also just for strength, or is this a different reason? What makes your choice between the two?

Why don't you slam the headers up against the double top plate and build the window opening down from there? I almost never set my headers at height if there is a size change up and down its easy peasey to change.

My thumb was hurting into my wrist? Then I had this sharp pain say like just pushing a door open?
Diagnosis : there is a lining between your wrist and forearm where they meet? I blew it out and that very fine oil that lubricates that area leaked out causing pain in my thumb , wrist and just rotten pain!
Surgery made it better ?

Be careful I hv scars all over me I am a klutz !
