Rammstein continues to amaze me. Videos of the absolute highest quality and world-class industrial metal music. Check out a live show video to see the pyrotechnics. Till, the lead singer, takes the shows so seriously he trained to become a professional pyro-technician. These guys are multi-discipline performance artists still dedicated, after 30+ years, to bringing their fans the absolute best of the best: music, video, and live. If you haven't seen Rammstein live, add it to your bucket list. I'm not a metal fan, but can admit they have THE best show I've ever seen. Cheers, from Berlin, home of Rammstein.

Attention gen z and and gen y from gen x....this means anyone who has gone thru such horrible history like Germany means everyone and anyone can be German. Its not a race or place but adaptation. If your born under punches like she has been we must know its everyone at this point. I wanna say kudos to her knowing about gas masks and facial hair good eyes girl.

What I find amazing, and a bit worrying, that obviously visually an enormous time and effort was put into this, which is what the far majority of viewers focus on of being impressed by, and rightly so, but musically it's one of Rammstein's worst songs, nothing really happening, the riff is dull, the electronic background uninteresting. I mean, for a band like Rammstein with such an amazing catalogue of great songs. Just listen to this song a few times without the video, it is boring as hell. The lyrics are ok'ish, you know the complex love/hate relationship the lyricist has with Germany as a country and its history, both when it was united as well as divided (BDR/DDR), which of course probably is a different perspective for the Rammstein members as they originate from the former DDR, still, the lyrics are not exactly in depth or move you as a listener.
I don't know, it seems as their videos visually get more lush and movie looking, the music to me is diminishing. I experienced the same with "Adieu", though I like it much more than Deutschland, but still the music is not on par with what came before in my mind. Anyway, just try it, listen to these songs without the video and see if you still keep on liking it.
And don't get me wrong, Rammstein is awesome!!! If you ever have a chance to see them live, don't miss it!!!

Videos are fine but the real test of any band is their live performance. Rammstein has one of the best live shows out there and are always spectacular. Music, sound, lights and stage performance there is no one better. Roger Waters came close with his 'The Wall Live' tour but he's special.

Just an idea, but read the lyrics if you want to interpret a video. Also if you have no idea of german History apart from world war 2 a secondary source explaining some pictures might help. There were a lot of pircutres of the DDR, cold war, the first world war, the roman empire, the hindenburg and several civil conflicts between the people of german. I get you did what you could but you didnt even grasp 20 percent of the meanings of this Song. I know its hard if you dont speak german and havent lived here but you should at least try if you attempt to interpret something like this.

Für mich als Deutscher und Rammsteinverehrer ist es schön zu erleben, wie ihr als US-Amerikaner die durch Risse und Brüche gekennzeichnete Geschichte Deutschlands und das daraus resultierende zerrissene und gebrochene, manchmal zerbrochene Selbstverständnis von uns zu verstehen versucht. Besonders, dass Vater und Tochter, zwei Generationen sich gemeinsam so intensiv mit der deutschen Geschichte beschäftigen ist eine wahre Freude zu sehen. Rammstein werden in Deutschland immer noch kontrovers betrachtet, es gibt immer noch Menschen, die Rammstein als Krawallkapelle sehen. Für mich ist Rammstein die einzige wichtige deutsche Band und Till Lindemann der wichtigste deutschsprachige Dichter der Gegenwart. Ich werde Euer Video noch öfter sehen. Vielen Dank dafür! 🙂

I find the opening chords remarkable. It's a variation on Anne Clark's "Our Darkness."!!! This is the headline. After that comes the dark story of German history. It ends with the death of german nation, but against the background of a globe without nations. The Video is a retrospective. I am also German and I was born and raised in East Germany like all the members of the band. Free opinion was dangerous, so any East German could say something and mean something else ("Our Darkness" is from "1984" ;-). Rammstein uses this politically enforced art of symbolism and ambiguity very masterfully in his songs and it's a pity that most listeners don't get all the layers of meaning. Rammstein create symbols that you have to understand. It's like an onion, layer on layer on layer. And every Rammstein video adds more layers to the music and lyrics (you hear 1984st "our darkness" -> you see a black personification of Germany -> first lyrics: this is how accusations begin). The Videos are great, the music is great, but the complexity of the lyrics, the many layers of meaning in all their songs, are even better for native speakers like me. That's the reason why Till Lindemann is also very successful with his books in Germany. Rammstein is ART.
