In the D.R. every year on average 150 Dominicans go missing. The authorities dont make one-tenth the effort to find them as they are with this American girl.Why is that?

This TJ Ward guy lost some credibility as soon as he stated the security situation in the Dominican Republic but hugely failed to bring into context that it does not impact tourist locations like beach resorts. Over 11 million tourists visit the island every year, and the great majority of them do not encounter security issues 'inside' beach resorts.

Ppl need to know: the ocean is unpredictable and if there is a red flag it means do not swim / rip currents. It will pull you out.. plus at night? While drunk? Really bad idea. Also ppl should realize that sharks are awake and hunting around dawn and dusk so you really shouldn’t be in their area then. If you are in a rip current try to swim horizontal to the shore, rather than trying to swim directly back to shore.

Not to be weird but also why are these young ppl going to elaborate and faraway vacation spots? In college we would drive to a beach or go camping, maybe go to Mardi Gras (which is of course dangerous) but why the need to go to these resorts in other countries..?? Everything is unfamiliar: the ocean, etc.. you’re already caught off guard in a different environment. PLEASE pay attention to ocean conditions if you visit new places! As a female (or male) please pay attention to your surroundings, even if on vacation!

Ok, people have been found when they drowned hours later. They have everyone in the DR looking for this girl. I think this guy is at the wrong place wrong time in my opinion. Where would he hide a body, he as no access to a car, I mean think about it. My opinion is she drowned and probably a shark carried her off.

One question, the guy said they were standing in knee deep water when a big wave knocked them over. They would have fallen forward, closer to the shore in shallow water, between knee and ankle deep. He claims after the wave hit them they were in water over their heads. Does that make sense?
