It is SO unfortunate! Any break isn't good, but some a far worse than others. We could clearly see the left foot was anchored to the ground as the load and twist were applied. Nasty.

Is this similar to that Gordon Hayward (NBA) injury in 2017? I remember that was a gruesome injury on live TV and was a season-ending injury.

These injuries needs to send a message to the NFL that extending the season to 18 games is a bad idea. Just this season alone we have had a unprecedented amount of injuries. We need to go back to Sunday and Monday games and get rid of Thursday games. 4 days is not enough time for these player to recuperate from their previous game. The NFL is all about money and they don't give a damn about these players safety. Sending prayers to Chris Godwin! Get well soon 🙏

Contrary to popular belief, the NFL did not implement a rule where you only have 2 onside kick attempts in a game. It was voted on in the off season and did not pass. You are however only allowed to attempt an onside kick in the fourth quarter while you’re trailing and you have to announce it obviously. There was an article written by a Dallas newspaper after their loss to Baltimore which falsely claimed that there was a new rule that only allows 2 of them.

Anyone else here also break their ankle?

The majority of long term ankle injuries I have seen this season is due to the fact defenders just grab the offensive player and just drop their weight on the player or on the ground and hold on as the offensive player is still moving his legs and eventually their legs get caught up under the defenders. The NFL needs to do something about this. This is really frustrating ....so many injuries. And I am not a Chris Godwin owner, I just like watching good football and these injuries are affecting the quality of games the NFL is putting out. Thanks Doc...much appreciated.

Season ending? This is going to destroy his career! Who care about the season... Chris Godwin will never play another meaningful game of football again...his ankle will never be able to perform remotely close to its previous potential... effectively killing his career. This was tragic and horrible. I pray he is able to just walk normally after this.

I noticed that although the foot came back to a neutral position, it appeared to be laying flat. It would probably be swinging and totally unstable if he tried to stand up. Everything in that joint destroyed?

Yeah, I knew it was bad when the announcer stated they weren't going to show a replay or another angle. Brutal injury. Contact sport isn't for the weak-hearted, that's for sure.

I imagine there might be some risk for vascular trauma as well would you think? The way he ended up laying after the play was over with his foot inverted seems to indicate fracture, it didn't seem to really rebound back to position any, just real loose looking..
