I have to admit this was the first adventure I ran and I did in fact make the bugbears stronger because I failed to notice their "extra damage" was already factored into their stat block.

As someone genuinely interested in trying to run my first D&D game, I really wish this was a straight forward explanation, instead of a comedic bit.

We recently finished playing the module, and it was fun seeing how it was meant to go…

The part about making characters roll so I have a second for parts I didn't prepare just resonated with me too hard

I did a game where no one wanted to follow the goblin trail, instead went straight for the town

this was the first dnd adventure i played. i was playing a paladin. the moment that flaming skull appeared i attacked it and got a nat 20, so it got a 2nd level smite in its face. next the flaming skull casted blur on itself so i was attacking with disadvantage. i attacked it again in my next turn and with my two attacks i killed it, without it being able to do anything about anyone
