Hi iam glad u enjoy bali man, just a quick info. The thing is call “Penjor” we always make Penjor every 6 months, since we celebrate Galungan twice a year. Galungan basicly a ceremony to calebrate “Dharma” (goodness) won against “Adharma” (evil).

We caled it janur kuning in some indonesia area, , a symbol of very important ceremony or big day is coming....

In Some area (outside bali island ) , some put it in front of the residence front street when one of theirs residence members have wedding ceremony.

Actually the pale yellow things arranged intricately to make a "penjor" is not "paper" like you said, they are young coconut leaves. Young coconut leaves have pale yellow color and are traditionally used to make ornaments in traditional ceremonies for both in Bali and the neighbouring Java.

Many of friends who live in bali is having hard time now because of pandemic. I wish things get better soon.
