I have tried step by step all the methods as instructed by you. But still my windows update is stuck at 20% installing.

SOLVED! If you're like me & your battery is completely dead so you just keep it plugged in all the time instead of buying a new battery: just take the battery out. That's all it took to start the download 😅

net stop - you don't need to do that from command line. Services did same thing from GUI.

unable to delete or rename te Software Dist folder. It says folder or file is still open but I've looked everywhere. I have closed everything I can in Task manager, closed all windows update services. Problem started after updating from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. From that point it will not do updates. When I open the Updates windows it shows a bunch of updates trying to download and all of them sit at 0% and never move. I have run troubleshooter and SFC scannow, etc.

THANKS! Clearing the Software Distribution fixed my stuck at 0%. You are the only one who showed how to save the contents of the Software Distribution folder after stopping the software updates, in case things went south. i did and watch all tutorials about that...nothing resolved the problème...but all you have to do its to upgrade your android phone to the last version ...it will upgrade your wifi connexion driver, cause Win update require a stable and fast connexion ...share to your pc done😉🙃... i used pixel 6...
