I don't need any convincing about the greatness of Siem Reap, just how to handle the exhausting effects of high humidity and heat.....
ОтветитьHow does the smallness of Cambodia compare to Laos?
ОтветитьIs there a recommended way of having a soft landing in Siem Reap regarding rhe weather of heat and humidity, such as a particular month?
ОтветитьWe missed her information about private health insurance.....
ОтветитьAs someone who's seriously looking at SR to retire, this was very useful information. Thank you both!
Ответить$800 to $1000 is going to exclude a lot. Eating out in nice places would be out, no health insurance, if you are 60+ ( you can get insurance at 60+, but it costs) no vehicle, no travel home or travel in the region, and, as mentioned, no aircon. It's cheap, but 1000 would be very basic, achievable if you have low expectations, or you enjoy a frugile life, which many do. Comfortable is $2000 per month.
Ответить$500 dollars a month ❤
ОтветитьElectricity is very expensive $100 per month if you have A/C
ОтветитьYou could even get a studio flat for $50 but it wouldn’t have hot wafer. Furnished. Most places will be furnished. Mobile phone plans $8 a month, unlimited fast data. Beef at market is about $8 a kilo.
ОтветитьPhnom Penh, new condo with rooftop infinity pool. Gym, steam, sauna etc around $500-600/ month. Siem Reap is less expensive.
ОтветитьWONDERFUL EXPAT community in Siem Reap! Anything you can think of is there.
ОтветитьWelcome to Cambodia 🇰🇭
ОтветитьCambodia has been popular to retire for at least 20 years. I went there then and there were lots of expats I met who had been there a long time even then! A lot of money has been invested in the country, especially from China, who have completely ruined Sihanoukville and turned it into a kind of Chinese casino city from a lovely cool vibe beach town. Yes it’s still a country everyone should visit and check out for themselves! Electricity bills can be high if you use Aircon, much more than Thailand. The heat can be unbearable in the hotter months of April/May! Kampot is another popular place to stay, it’s a much smaller town and a pleasant place with beautiful mountains nearby! $1500 to $2000 is a comfortable budget, to live a reasonable lifestyle imo!
ОтветитьSo if you cant buy health insurance over 65 years old, that would exclude most retired people who would want to move there, doesnt sound like they are set up for anything serious in the way of medical issues.
Ответитьif you wanted to teach a few private English classes in your apt., are you allowed to do so?
ОтветитьThank you very much for this. It was all helpful.
Maybe for some of your guests that aren't used to doing video chats you could give them some tips on how to set up a camera and how far back to be before actually starting the interview.
Again, I really appreciate the effort and information.
can you get a visa on arrival? at the airport i think im asking
Ответитьhow much, what kind of hospitalization plan is good to get? Okay, i saw what you said about the insurance system, that is to say there is NO way for 77 year old to be insured? Otherwise, extremely interesting video, thank you!
ОтветитьIf you could really eat, sleep, and travel like locals, you can stretch your mighty $$$ much further. There are always pros and cons no matter where we live as life is short to do the things we don't love doing. Be mindful and open minded with your surroundings as locals still live with only a few dollars a day. Cambodia has come a long way since the prolonged civil war officially ended in 1998. I've returned to live here since my retirement for ten years now from US. Most of my family members did not survive the horrific genocide there. Cambodia might not be suitable for everyone but you can give it a try as it's like a new kid in a block comparing to the neighbors. Peace from a genocide survivor ✌️
ОтветитьCould u ask Deborah how much is a live in housekeeper
ОтветитьSo could you supple a link to the insurance company you use
ОтветитьThis lady has far more experience in CAMBODIA, than me , But $500 a month would Exclude Alcohol and girls also restaurants
ОтветитьCan you drink the tap water?
ОтветитьI've loved in Thailand and the surround country's for 15 years and I am looking forward to moving to seam reep. Great info and thank you. Very lovely place. Maria and Col
ОтветитьWe have never heard a bad word about seam deep. Maria and Col
Ответитьdoes everyone there wear big glasses ?
ОтветитьAs a retired expat from the United States living in Thailand I have to tell you you really wasted a lot of my time with this video. This woman goes on and on about how fantastic Cambodia is to retire and at the very end of the video we are informed that you will not have any medical coverage whatsoever if you are retired at an older age in Cambodia. As a retiree in Thailand I can absolutely tell you that Thailand is light years ahead of Cambodia as a retirement option.
Ответить178 KM FROM CAPITOL I LIVE TO IN CAMNODIA 14 YEARS
ОтветитьYOU CAN T LIVE CORECTLY WITH 500 $
ОтветитьELECTRIC EXPENSIVE 0. 25 CENTS
Ответить25 CENT GAZ
ОтветитьYou showed some thai tuktuks after the kind that are pulled by a motorbike like a rickshaw , no have no thai tuk tuk here ( all one piece 3 wheel ) but they do have a new variety 3 wheel. The normal ones here are pulled by a motorbike
ОтветитьWestern standard 1BR appartments with pool in Siem Reap are about 350-450, without aircon cost. The $150 ones are pretty basic. Electricity, having one aircon running, can be $130 / per month
Groceries, including cheeses and high quality meat/seafood are about $500. Add costs to eat out.
Average common living costs are about $1000-1300 in total, if you don‘t want to live too basic.
Maybe not mentioned - that it is quite hot, 34 degrees during the year and 2 months up to 40 degrees (April and May).
Yes, I live here, too.
Her numbers are off. Even without using aircon, electric in Cambodia is ridiculously expensive. You can live good here for $1,500 plus a month.
ОтветитьThese figures are not correct. You can’t live on 500usd. You could just about survive on that amount but it would be no kind of life. Budget 1200 for one or 1500 for two, and that’s by no means extravagant. 1500 was our lowest month in Cambodia it was usually around 1800 and rarely did we spend more than 15-20usd on a meal. Some of her other info was correct however
ОтветитьIf you have a remote job that earn 1000$ per month you will consider rich here
ОтветитьTuktuk ride from the royal palace to the International Airport in Phnom Penh cost me 13,000 riels = $2.75 and it was 11 kilometers ride. Very cheap. 12 passengers van ride from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh costs 60,000 riel. 4,000 riel = $1. Taxi ride from Phnom Penh to Kampot city costs $10 which is 40,000 riel. If you want to hire car ride from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap or vice versa will cost you $80 up to 4 passengers. Ride from Phnom Penh to Battambang city will cost you $12. Very economical.

ОтветитьThis was excellent!
ОтветитьI’m retiring in 4 years to Siem Reap, this was full of lots of information. Thank you.
Does Deborah have a social platform? She has a World of experience after 17 years.
Does anyone know if Traditional Chinese medicine shops to self-prescribe are available in Siem Reap, as well as Ayurvedic medicine (I order wonderful powders and healing herbs used in Chinese Traditional Medicine and Ayurveda out of Lazada in Thailand, but nothing like that appears to exist in Cambodia I have looked for Chinese herbal shops in Siem Reap and saw a list of about 2 shops that state Chinese herbs are sold I know there are many more stores in Phnom Penh, and perhaps I could take a bus to that city for a day and buy herbs. Does anyone know anything about this potentiality for buying hebs without having to go to a clinic? I already know what I want and need.
ОтветитьA few years back, Thailand changed its visa laws to require that a person have $1800 a month and deposit about $23,000 in a Thai bank as well as to have health insurance. They became aware that people who did not have sufficient funds create a lot of problems. Many countries face similar rules. Cambodia has about the easiest visa right now. A lot of people who were kicked out of Thailand have come to Cambodia. Many of the people I am referring to are older men who don’t have sufficient funds because they were not successful in life due to their alcoholism and personality defects. They spend most of their time drinking cheap beer and contribute nothing to the economy or culture. In fact they cause damage to both. They make it worse for the rest of us. There have been government-level discussions, in the past year or so, in Cambodia to do something similar to Thailand. It is only a matter of time.
ОтветитьHello, which insurance company are you using please, thank you
