Mismatched lighting temperatures makes me feel physically ill.
ОтветитьThis video is a proof, that a giant TV in a small boxy living room makes your home at least look weird.
ОтветитьBest phrase of the video - "it's choppable" 😂perfection!
ОтветитьNick ! I am designing and building a house in spring! What stress all the builders can only build 1 type of house! No gray for me ! Your tips are helping plus you are hilarious
ОтветитьA great way to introduce yourself to the sewing machine, making cushion covers. And spend your money on some posh fabric.
ОтветитьDid you upgrade your camera? I can see every little hair in your beard and your colouring is so good.
ОтветитьThere's also a safety aspect to flooring transitions. Going from tile, has a certain rise that can be different from hardwood flooring, vinyl, carpet, linoleum etc. You can trip on this level transition, and when you're transition is not linear or at expection zones, such as under lintels, arches or in doorways, it increases the danger.
ОтветитьYou karate chopped your pillows...isn't that outdated? Then again if you like it, it's fine. :)
ОтветитьEekkkk. I actually like many of the irregular floor transitions. Do we realllly care abt transitioning rooms? Some examples here were 1990s basic, but others were very tasteful and could help sell the property to younger buyers
ОтветитьPlease a whole video on moldings!
ОтветитьNick, I’ve been having a lot of trouble finding vegan pillow inserts that aren’t the super bouncy type. Do you (or anyone else here!) have any specific recommendations?
ОтветитьYou make me smile! You are so right.
ОтветитьI liked a couple of your videos, but now I have to ask: how come everything I see from you is negative? If your game is to get some kind of thrill from putting down everybody else so that you can feel superior, I am going to stop watching altogether. Do better!
ОтветитьHey Nick, what do you think about an area rug placed on top of low-pile carpeting? My intuition says 'don't do it' but, in my case, it feels ok because the rug is bringing in texture, linking accent colors and defining the conversation space. The other challenge is keeping the rug stabilized on the carpet. I'm using rug pins (grrr - don't like). I haven't come across a better method to secure in place. Thanks for your channel - always great advice and insight!
ОтветитьDo a video just on moldings! I'm here for that!
ОтветитьI have inconsistent flooring, but my landlord don't want to do anything about it 🥲
ОтветитьYes to inconsistent flooring! When house-hunting, if I see more than 3 flooring types in a home, it is almost immediately disqualified!
ОтветитьI believe you’re mispronouncing “faux luxury”. “Faux rocks” is a rhyme, actually.
ОтветитьThat background you are using looks cheap. 😂
ОтветитьI agree with the lighting, but the rest of it is iffy
ОтветитьI agree with transition points, what's sad is I think making those weird transitions is a lot more expensive
ОтветитьAgree with staying away from the faux materials. You can make your place look great with genuine materials you can afford (wood) and accessorize your countertops with those fine marble counter top utensil holders or similar.
ОтветитьThe "too much furniture" thing drives me nuts
ОтветитьI learned something! The cushion thing!
ОтветитьDuring my evening walk I pass a handful of homes which seem to have the brightest and coldest interior lighting. These are gorgeous homes with cafeteria/hospital lights. Don't they notice? I'm reminded of the Joe vs. The Volcano flickering fluorescent scene every time.
ОтветитьThere’s a really obvious joke about Nick having a fluffer for his videos but I won’t say it
ОтветитьVery funny 😆 and all is soooo true!
ОтветитьI call it public bathroom lighting. It's the worst.
ОтветитьWe need more pillows, I need those thing looking fluffed, poofed. I want these things looking like microwavable popcorn bags, three minutes deep!
Chris Fleming
Company is Coming
Not the goop
ОтветитьLove the shape of your floor lamp in the background!
Ответитьlighting is the first mistake
ОтветитьFlooring is huge. The ranch we live in now , my late mother insisted on replacing the old different colors carpet with hardwood . When I moved in with my Dad after she passed , I took the $$ left me to extend the hardwood into the bedrooms I was occupying. My Dad put an addition on the back of the house , same flooring . The wood flooring all looks like it was installed at the same time ( to the casual eye) and created great flow in the house .
ОтветитьSlow down!!
ОтветитьPerhaps you should consider doing a video on design mistakes that look good, but make more work for the person who has to clean the house! I could give you a lot of advice to get started. Or just post this, and I'm sure your subscribers would tell you more than you'd want to know! It's not just crystal chandeliers and white carpets that waste our time with extra cleaning and maintenance.
Ответить😂😂😂 you crack me up. I had you on during a long trip a few weeks ago my husband was in the car. A week later he brought up something about gray flooring is out blah blah…I heard that some where he said. I’m like yeah it was me listening to that video 😂
You are very funny. I enjoy your tips. 👍
Nick~🙌Praise hands for the "consistent warm lighting!!!" I've fought this fight in my condo complex forever...luckily we have an association president now who "gets" aesthetic...so our lighting outdoors is now (Consistently!) warm! Nothing bugged me more than when a light would go out and some handyman from the association would come and put in whatever bulbs he had on hand, and put cool bulbs with our warm ones and the complex would look all disjointed, messy, sloppy, and yes...CHEAP! Just recently I noticed they'd done that on our lights over the garages...two warms and one cool light got put in when it went out, bugged me! Luckily someone got "told" and changed it to warm white the next day. You are 100% correct on it~THANKS!
ОтветитьIf you want some marble or great looking wood, buy it in a smaller object- like a cheese board or decorative item.
I just bought some Scandinavian design salt & pepper shakers.
I don't like the homes that look like a farm flea market store. I do not know what the actual term is but they have wash boards/ and etc. that you would see in a country store. I live in the south and it is everywhere you might vacation in those road side places. Wagon wheels are usually at the front of the building.....yuck.
Ответить😍
Could you please do something on wall moldings. Thx from Aus
That ugly clock on your wall makes your home look cheap.
ОтветитьYou are hilarious, Nick!
ОтветитьI love my laminate, neutral countertops. Granite and other stones are just so cold and if you just tip over a glass it’s going to dramatically smash.
ОтветитьUnfortunately my husband and daughter cannot tolerate down - polyester inserts it is - some are better than others.
ОтветитьI am shopping for curtains for my 400 sq foot gallery/art studio. I don’t want it to look cheap, but have furniture under the window sill. What do I do with it? Pull the furniture away six inches and stuff the curtains behind?
ОтветитьI haven't seen overstuffed faux leather recliners on your lists but maybe that is just a given in design land. 😊
ОтветитьI wanted a copper dining table for my house but didn't have $10000 to drop on a set. I searched "copper" on craigslist every night, and after 18 months someone listed one--but the top only. Bought the top, had some iron legs made by a local artisan, and bought coordinating chairs. I got my dream table for $600 (not counting the chairs) and it will last me a lifetime with proper care. If you want something luxe on a budget, it will be out there--just be patient.
ОтветитьI bought this place and the kitchen is just-there’s this weird stone-ish counter on the island. Medium gray subway tile. Walnut look cabinets. Charcoal laminate countertops. Stainless/black appliances. Black sink. Help.
ОтветитьI know I sound wildly demanding but I use the same brand of smart lightbulbs in every light in the room and I set them up in the app with preset temperatures and timed brightness levels and I get mad when I can’t just wake up my phone and fix the lighting in the hotel or whatever. Once your color temperatures match it’s hard to tolerate.
