Just a historical reminder. The Spartan Army ran this same distance with full body armor and weapons within 3 days. Imagine how hard it was with all that weight and the heat. Although, they did not take part in the Battle of Marathon because they had a sacred festival which forbid them to fight, but they ran to help the Athenians as soon as the festival was over. Of course, the battle was already finished, they didn't make it on time - so they gathered some military intelligence like Persian weapons, battle formations (footprints etc) etc. But again, imagine how hard it was to run this distance with full metal body armor..

Yet for some reason I put myself through marathons. I promise myself I wont do another yet I end up doing another anyway.
I like cycling. Should probably stick to that. I really want to do the triple crown.

Pheidippides chest and thighs must have been pretty raw after running an entire 153 mile race. If it wasn't for COVID in 2020 or else I would try and run this race this December 2020 no CAP!
