Delighted that everyone knows pistons move side-to-side in boxer engines. Thanks for watching!

I'm torn between this and the WRX... With 2 kids, if only the BRZ/86 backseats were a little more functional

When people say this is a great car for new drivers I smile. I just bought one. I'm 55. My previous cars include a 992 911 and a 718 GT4. I learned to drive in 1984. I love it.

2 years later, and I still wish dealers would let these go for anywhere near msrp.

I just took delivery of one 3 weeks ago in Canada. I was pining for my 1986 MR2, a fun car to scoot around in. I did zero research, saw no videos, I was at the dealer and just told my salesman, I want one of them. It took 6 months to get and in transit it morphed from silver to trueno blue with the premium package. AT-6. I love it, it scoots nicely. Having a slightly modified right knee, all original parts but slightly rearranged, a manual was not in the picture. It's fast, and does corners like its on rails. Nice acceleration and the paddles or sport mode takes care of the absence of the extra peddle and dynamic cruise makes for easier highway driving. A nice rig. I am an infrequent commenter, but enjoy your channel. PS: Post purchase research all leans to what you say and my experience, a decent little sports car that is fun to drive. Cheers from Newfoundland, land of windy roads.

I've honestly always respected these cars and I also thought their value was lost in translation to the American Market. The one thing I felt odd about this new generation was the fact no one addressed how the center of gravity was. So thank you for addressing this!

If you can actually get this for around $30k on the road then thats a great deal for you USA folk. Here in the UK with park sensors fitted, optional paint its over $43k equivalent on the road. That does include a first year road tax we have to pay of $1900 😢...if you can even get one.

I will having test driven one they do go and feel far better than the numbers suggest and the ride was far better than i thought it would be on our crumbling UK roads.

Except the auto gets more safety tech, if you care about that. So not better all the way around. Also better MPG. Again. If you care.

For a small car, this thing has a terrible gas mileage, and good luck finding one for 30K. You are lucky if you can get one out the door for less than 40k.

Reading the manual transmission is pretty weak link and not very Smooth. They say the synchros fail a lot and clutch pretty fragile. I think I would have to go with the automatic unfortunately because I hate mechanical failures.

I wish more cars would go back to manual 4 speed transmissions. 6 is a pain on mountain roads, and even around town. I guess I'm just an old man that grew up with '60s muscle cars with more torque.

We know we all love the break downs he provides, however, its always Mo Powah Bebeh. Adding Turbo wouldn't make it drastically heavier. It would actually make it reminiscent to 90's JDM cars with 4Cylinder RWD Boosted Cars under with it slightly over 3k Lbs. The power to weight ratio would be super fun with a good PSI and a healthy engine. Great Content as always!

I'm old school, no doubt, as I find the 2850 pounds a bit on the heavy side. It could be 500 pounds lighter then we're talking. If this car were chipped out it would be cool. And an average of 23 mpg or so is not that great, considering it being a small car. Remember, 93-octane is minimum in this baby, so the 87-octane is out the door, for those Corolla owners wanting to move up.

Hi EE Jason, love your video's they are always so informative. Very excited to hear and see the new GR86/BRZ, the reviews are all so positive, and the sound of the engine reving out from inside the car - wonderful.
One thing (sorry) you have a worldwide audience, and most of the world is metricated, so any chance that you could quote power/torque/weight in metric units?

Why is no one going on about the exterior design. It is superb, especially with the duck tail spoiler. The composition between the line and curves are on par with much more expensive car models form a brand like Porsche.

Are the engines still blowing up, because Subaru can't apply Rtv? Would be a good car if it had a Toyota engine. They have to pump in engine sounds (speaker in the dash) to try to cover up the horrible sound the Subaru engine makes.

PLEASE get Toyota/Subaru to release a Corrective Action on the RTV silicone clogging up the oil pickup tube strainer. There is way too much RTV silicone being applied from the factory and pieces are breaking off and clogging up the oil pickup tube strainer enough to damage engines. PLEASE get Toyota/Subaru corporate to fix this issue and use simple gaskets!!
