It may be the slow movement of a three-movement piano concerto, or possibly a stand-alone piece. The pianistic style seems quite impressionistic.
This unidentified work and recording is taken from the music prepared in 1972 by Werner Schmidt-Boelcke (consisting of pre-existent works by other composers) for the 1928 silent film “Alraune”, directed by Henrik Galeen. It might be by Werner Schmidt-Boelcke himself, although it seems rather unlikely.
This concertante piece/movement is used from 53:11 to 59:46 in the following video of the movie: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aTUMdOp2HRE
