He has indeed. Pat debuted in the NHL at 18 years old (he scored 7/15/22 in 20 games as an 18 year old). He is now entering his 18th NHL season.

He has had Denis Savard, Joel Quenneville, Jeremy Colliton, Derek King, Luke Richardson, Gerard Gallant, and Derek Lalonde as head coaches in the NHL. He's seen 4 of them get fired while he was there (so far). He's also in his career been teammates w several guys who've become coaches or GMs in this league (Andrew Brunette, Kevyn Adams, Chris Drury), and been coached by another slew of guys in international play (Ron Wilson, Dan Bylsma, Blashill). He's also been mentored at various stages by current NHL GM Pat Verbeek, and by the greatest coach in the history of ice hockey, Scotty Bowman. He has seen every kind of coach, seen coaches come and go.

If you got his unfiltered candid opinion of Derek Lalonde it would not be good.

Kasper has played his way onto the team, unless there is just a contractual/money issue keeping him off.

"Do you like where the team is at" ? "Yah, that's a really good question". Obviously the bar for "good question" isn't that high. Lol.

Not feeling overly confident after this interview. I like Newsie but the comment he made that there could be 15 guys in GR that could be coming up is concerning as well as the comment about him not understanding why guys are so concerned about making the team. The game against the Leafs tonight should be interesting,

Lalonde is a mid tier coach. Steve needs to think about that when his future is at hand.

Sad that Kasper did not make the team out of camp. Just don't see why Kasper is not 3rd line center. Copp/Veleno should be battling it out for the 4th line center spot. Ras/Kasper/Fish would be a huge energy 3rd line.

This season will be defining for Lalonde’s long term relationship with the Wings. Often his press conferences seem like, “If you heard one you’ve heard them all”.
