How many calls did Nintendo receive about the water temple. The staff must have been like "Hello? Yes there is a key you missed under the floating block in the room where you first change the water level. Stop calling."

I remember years ago (before Breath of the Wild had a name), I saw someone on a Zelda forum complain about how Nintendo's home console sales had a downwards trend, and the Wii was a fluke. Oh, how wrong they were...

Being a rookie, make Ubiquiti your best friend. I went off on my own and ended up finding them and redoing everything. I didn't like paying twice, but i couldn't be happier with the outcome now. 1 wifi 7 network wireless network and a full 10g wired network with a 25g fiber from building to building spread across 3.5 buildings and 2 acres or property all at amazing speeds.

THPS3 was only released in Europe? I remember THPS3 for N64 here in the United States. It had a black cartridge

The N64 is the definition of a top-heavy console: it's great for high-quality first and second-party titles exclusive to the console but terrible for any decent third-party support whatsoever. The big reason for this was Nintendo's refusal to go with the CD-ROM format - younger people today don't realize just how baffling that decision was at the time. But for me, the biggest thing was the utter lack of RPGs on the N64... whereas the SNES was an RPG machine. Stopped me from getting an N64 entirely.

Still find it weird how UK Pokemon Stadium one is Japan's Pokemon Stadium 2. And 2 is 3.
Genuinely never even knew there was a shittiest original version with barely any Pokemon. No wonder it wasn't released outside of Japan.

The PlayStation was perhaps the better SNES successor, but the N64 had some of the best, most influential games ever and was a great partner to the PS1 if you could afford to support both

I think the first appearance of the "Hylian language" was in the book of Mudora in Link to the Past, though their decision to invent it (again) for OOT is very interesting. It's funny that it works out as an explanation for the "ancient language" in LTTP.

Unfortunately and realistically there was no way for the N64 to get more games developed for it once the GameCube released for an obvious reason... the effect of the very unstable behavior of Sega leading to make a premature next generation jump with Dreamcast.

Why? because Sega of America's then president or COO or whatever the hell big shot title he had, Bernie Stolar decided to get up on a podium in May 1997 and announce that Saturn was not Sega's future and that next generation hardware was in the works... and he had the audacity to do this when NO ONE at Sega headquarters in Japan had made any such announcements. Eventually the words Bernie Stolar spoke reached Japan and it resulted in very angry but loyal Sega third party devs who no doubt felt betrayed and embarrassed if not humiliated by Sega of America's big shot chief who was acting as if he ran the whole company. Ironically Bernie Stolar was not "let go" for such an insubordinate move and thus the pressure he place on Sega headquarters Japan to abandon the Sega Saturn led to the two different next gen projects, to the 3DFX lawsuit and settlement where Sega Enterprises LTD Japan (because they are the parent company and thus where the wallet was) had to PAY 3DFX and unknown bunch of millions if not more due to the allegations 3DFX made based on the contracts they signed which were written by Sega of America's staff and thus were argued to have been some type of breach of contract which implies that Sega of America basically told 3DFX that they were surely getting the contract which if true just further adds to the lack of responsibility from the management at 90s Sega of America in 1997 when these contracts were made.

So basically it was common knowledge to any gamer magazine reader that "Sega" was abandoning the Sega Saturn and thus it became known to Western third party devs and then to Japanese third party devs, the latter of whom felt angry given that in Japan the Sega Saturn was NOT a failure and had secured around six million Sega Saturn systems sold by 1996 alone which itself is a more than healthy number for Japanese third parties to make games as well as Sega itself and remain profitable and avoid the bankrupt state that happened after the Sega Dreamcast launched in Western regions where again Bernie Stolar took it upon himself to cut the launch price from $249.99 to $199.99 thereby creating a $50 dollar LOSS per DreamCast system sold which means if you sell four million Dreamcasts or even 6 million Dreamcasts from September 1999 to December 2000, you multiply 6 million by 50 and that is how much you LOST in real money... nevermind that Sega of America forced a modem upgrade to 56kbps over the Japanese 33.3kbps modem launched in 1998 because technology is not cheap but forcing a modem to be built into the game system made the Dreamcast hardware compromised, weak and cheap in the process and no wonder why the Sony PlayStation 2 and Nintendo GameCube just had brute force to crunch polygons for breakfast.. Essentially Sega of America's 90s management made a series of decisions that led the entire company down the drain to a path of ruin. The fans did not realize this because they were under the spell of the promise of next gen power without realizing how premature it was and how much bigger a mistake it was to abandon the Sega Saturn... which in turn gave Sony the green light to make PS2 and for Nintendo to do the same with GameCube.

So imagine that Nintendo was taking losses in Japan and losing third party support for example the two Capcom games were not even made by Capcom but by contract dev teams hired to handle the porting process. Midway Games which appeared to have some of the best games just did not bother to do the extra programming effort to make their games near first party level and thus they missed their chance to impress hardcore gamers who would have purchased their games if they truly pushed the N64 hardware and then there are small controversies like how M.R.C., a game which must have scared the bejeesus out of Sega's arcade dev teams in terms of looks, ended up getting mixed reviews and not enough Western sales like how a half-arsed San Francisco Rush actually sold well despite being buggy as hell and flawed and Midway Games greenlit a N64 exclusive sequel.

Then to add insult to injury once Sega Dreamcast was about to launch in Japan in 1998, it initially generated some hype only to go lukewarm because of the realization that despite being more powerful, it had to sell an install base to betrayed Sega Saturn owners... most of which did not jump to buy Dreamcast despite Virtua Fighter 3tb especially when it was known that SEGA-AM2 did not handle the conversion but somewhat average to mediocre Genki did... so no real extras and a lackluster graphics effort, along with their second port in Fighting Vipers 2 which Sega of America refused to localize like they refused to localize Virtual On Oratiorio Tangram... also known as things Sega fanboys and Dreamcast fanboys forget to tell you or even acknowledge were slap in the faces to Sega hardcore fans.

This all leads to the year 2000 and Microsoft announcing the Xbox coming the following year which obviously scared Sony, Nintendo and best of all Sega because their console would become the weakest before it was known how many millions of dollars it was actually losing.

Therefore Nintendo would be forced to re-focus all their efforts (because videogames require programmer time and money to pay those programmers) into the GameCube which unlike previous generations was now facing a company with what seemed like brick wall tower of resources in Microsoft who make their profits selling Operating Systems and office software where back then they had just killed off the competition.

Basically your only hope for any post N64 games is the fan hobbyist programmer who currently as of this year has not been able to program any videogame software code that runs in native 2d graphics or even native 3d graphics on the Nintendo 64 hardware.

Sorry, I had to fact check this, as I grew up in Europe
THPS3 was a NA exclusive, not a PAL exclusive.

I remember owning the game as a kid, but I don't remember if we got it in England, or when we moved to the US.

Somehow, we got a copy of Dr. Mario 64 in England, even though it was a NA exclusive. Must've been from the military base.
