A Yank here from out West, Wyoming to be exact. I was in Oz for 6 months a few years ago. Saving up to go back. I didn't get a chance to do any exploring, as I was busy helping a mate move things out to a second station on the Darling river, 20 miles below Tilpa. I was also up at Brewarnia, on a station there. Wonderful people, and a great country!

You need to shut up pat! Have you told everyone in Australia how you think everyone should have to go get a special license to drive around in a 4wd!!! Yep that’s right, he wants you pay more money to the government and force you to pay for more licenses in this supposedly free country. Big press release all over social media platforms trying persuade public opinion to call for 4WD license!!!

Who did the webasto install ?

2880Wh of battery and a hob that draws 3000w (ok, in use slightly less as it won't be running at full power all the time) and a coffee machine drawing 1600w, plus fridge, plus webasto heater, plus lights, plus phone + camera charging, etc...
One night, one small meal or no coffee in the morning. And no low range. Not so terribly impressed. Sorry.

You should encourage vw to build a new scout 4x4 in collab with Navistar. Then beat the crap out of it on your channel showing up the bronco.

I'd love to upgrade to a v6 amarok one day. Dead right about the strong chassis and large frame. Hence being one of the most popular sprint cars for the SA ambulance service.

The V6 580 is a fantastic product. By far the best to drive and makes so much power. If you have one look after it they won't be made anymore as VW's next Amarok will be Ford based. Full time 4WD is also a bonus.

Guy walks into the VW dealership and says 'I'll have the Pat Callinan thanks'.

makes sense, the Amarok is the best tourer for comfort and power thats for sure, good place to start

This video made me want to move to Australia just because of the pricing of 4x4s and accessories compared to here in South Africa

This is so much more pleasing then the good ol 79 series tourer spec dream builds.

Any idea on total project cost? Purchase and build, surely upwards of $150k+?

Delete the dpf and egr throw the steunbauer chip in the bin and do a 2 stage remap. 1 towing tune and 1 power tune

“Ultimate tourer”’ not an ultimate crawler, goodness,very impressive for what I think is around $145,000. 00

So, for those people that don't get massive discounts or better yet, free products, what was the complete build cost? I've watchedca few of these 'ultimate' builds and they're all the same, extremely heavily sponsored builds that the bloke in the street would have to mortgage his house for.
