FIRST CLASS on the Nairobi SGR

my group of 9 seniors are going to take this train to Mombasa ( 1st class, of course) in August. I have been searching for the info about acheck in service for big suitcases . Because of our 1 month long trip, we , as seniors , have big suitcases . Last summer, We took Delani train to Delani National park in Alaska , there is check in luggage service, like at the airport. We checked in our big suitcases and checked out at the final destination. I wonder whether with this SGR , passengers have to haul their own suitcases into the wagons or check in their suitcases We need the info for our packing.
I emailed to SGR and did not receive an answer ( the government all over the world has the same attitude). I hope Dave or anyone who reads this comment will give me the info. Thanks Dave and all

This station is typical chinese style. The train itself, even more looking like travel in China back in 80s.

I think its up to the passenger to know whether to order food or not depending on what time your train leaves

SGR was ok but a bit uncomfortable.but i still miss the old lunatic express overnight train with silver service dinner.that was a lovely way to travel nbi to pwani and vice versa.looks like 1st class sgr is the way to go though but often sold out 1st class.

i hope the train station can bring the flow of goods and people between two major cities.

The food is really not good. At least chew the food before saying it’s really good. Common don’t fool your followers .

3 Billion USD is cheap, when you consider that we are talking about nearly 600km of railway, new stations, new everything. The first infrastructure is always the most costly. When Africa finally starts building real railway network, costs will decrease rapidly.

I`m planning my trip to Kenya and wanted to book train tickets, but it turns out that VISA and Masster are not accepted, only MPESA. That is a major problem. Can you recommend any other option to book a ticket? And also is there any option to choose the seats?
