This was a learning experience for me as I don't recall ever really knowing about this. Interesting and it makes sense for sure. Great job covering this subject. Your theory really does make sense to me.
ОтветитьIt’s sad how this world hide so much from us this supposed to be the land of the free but we not free in all reality now I never heard of these people I’m just finding this out they hide everything from history from us it’s about self knowledge
ОтветитьLeave them alone and at PEACE
ОтветитьIve never been able to find records of my dads side of the family. Its like they just appeared in the 1800s and there is absolutely nothng about them before that. They lived way out a hollar in Wv and had "always" lived there. All of them have blue eyes that change to green sometimes. I unfortunately didnt get them.
ОтветитьFrom the test he showed.. they were basically Native American and Spanish (most definitely Spanish colonist who conqurered Mexico). Not that mixed at all.
ОтветитьMe personally I think this is total bs
ОтветитьMy fam is willing talk we r the last
ОтветитьI had a history professor of mine claim that Abraham Lincoln was a Melungeon.
ОтветитьI live in Pittsburgh but the name "Appalachian" always sounds so foreign and thats telling and kinda sad. Ty for this! New to me for sure and informative and honest. Definitely gonna do some digging
ОтветитьWe are not lost! We just blended in. My husband from Big Stone,VA is Mulungen. My side is also Mulungen. I remember some of the rituals my grandmother handed down. My husband is tri racial, he descended from African slaves, native Americans,British. My side native Americans for sure but we have a much more diverse background, including Scottish,Irish,Norwegian,African. We are white passing except one of our sons is always mistaken for middle eastern.I actually have a picture were my husbands relative is dark black and at a family funeral. He was family, wasn’t segregated, treated less then . The picture was took early 1920s to 30s. We as a people received discrimination from both black and white Americans back in the old days.
ОтветитьI had my genealogy done and on my father's side my direct decendant great great grandfather history stopped with him (from southern Virginia) and his wife from Kentucky. My DNA included Native American, West African and Portuguese. What puzzled me was the Portuguese. All the rest of my DNA was from Britain, Ireland, and North Western Europe. I never heard of anyone in my family from Portugal. My family was very poor back then and moved to southern Ohio. Now I'm wondering if that combination could indicate Melougian
ОтветитьThank you Donnie for sharing with us God bless y'all.
ОтветитьI'm melungeon on my Dad's father side. Last name Mullins, family started out in Kentucky and moved to West Virginia
ОтветитьElvis Pressly mom was, and Abraham Lincoln was
ОтветитьI agree with your theory Thank you for sharing😊
ОтветитьI’ve lived in Hawkins Co Tn my entire life & my family has deep roots in Hawkins & Hancock Co both. I did a DNA ancestry kit because I was interested in seeing what came of it since I had always been told my my grandparents that they came from the Melungeons. DNA proved that to be true. I have ancestry that ties back to Native American both North & South American Indigenous, Portuguese, German, Spanish, Italian, Dravidian (North Pakistan), Near East & Middle Eastern, Greek & Balkan, Sub Saharan African & Nigerian. I was also able to find people Im related to that had more info on the Melungeons. It’s definitely a very interesting history to delve into for sure. There’s more info amongst the people that descend from them then there is on the internet I’ve found.
ОтветитьWe have alot of Scottish but also lots of other things. Even Native American / East Asian and middle eastern. I kind of feel like a mixture of my ancestors. I even have the Abcc11 gene I have no body odor. Which is fine by me 😂 proud to ne a Kentuckian
ОтветитьIm melungeon
ОтветитьNo such thing as native American people they're Asians out of mongolia the huns who crossed the ice land bridge over the bearing sea indians live in India, people out of Iberia and France were already in America before larger waves of Asians arrived The solutreans PBS did a very good series on the solutreans . it's known Egyptians made it to the Americas.
ОтветитьI grew up in Lee County Virginia in the 50's, 60's, and 70's. There were a lot of Melungeons in Wise County around Pound. Collins and Mullins were common names among them.
ОтветитьPortugal, showed up in my DNA, granted it was only 1%, the rest was Scotch/ Irish, Wales and Scandinavian DNA, both parents are from Eastern Kentucky, so not sure if it's from daddy's side or Mommy's side. I passed it on to my 2 children as well.
Ответить“melun can” in Turkish means damned soul.
Its same pronounced as the word melungeon.
I wonder if these people are the remnant of the people here before the reser, tartarians or atlanteans
ОтветитьI was married to a woman that was melundgeon. Her last name was goins, born in Tennessee.
ОтветитьWhen I was little, if we misbehaved, the older folks would tells us if we didn't behave they'd sell us to the melungeons, northeast corner of Ga mountains.
ОтветитьThere's a lot to discover here, and there are other communities of similar tri-racial people in the eastern US. There are also unsubstantiated (so far) arguments that both Abraham Lincoln & Elvis Presley may have had some Melungeon ancestry.
ОтветитьDo you think they could be the "feral people?"
ОтветитьYour theory make lots of sense.
ОтветитьI have read Spanish history. That high mexican DNA could have come from the slaves or warriors brought from Peru pr Mexico. Conquistadors have Sponsors that pay for expeditions. Ortega for example families desiring to get rich. It was common that african slaves became maroons. I read the slaves joined Native tribes on Islands. Turning tribes black after many years. I read about Spanish rich families living on small islands. They were to difficult to settle on. Storms and pirates. Crops will not grow. Pirates. And the families left. It seems like a ancient secret settlement living off the grid. Conquistadors do leave people behind to settle for the Spanish Royal family. The farmers give a percentage of the harvest to the King. Back then all conquered and settled land is the king's. You can become rich. Seems like a ancient villiage
Spain was secretive in the 1500s.
I loved this video, and the way you tell the story of the Melungeon people. Since I was very young I've been interested in languages, ethnicities, cultures. My Dad was from Denmark and his differences were very interesting to me. It wasn't until I was in my 30s, that I realized my Mom's ancestry was just as intriguing. Her people came to North America, mostly from Ireland, before the great famine, and settling in Ontario near Ottawa. She wasn't "just a Canadian", like myself.
The journey of man is fascinating.
I look forward to seeing more of your work.
Abraham Lincoln was Melungeon's first US black president.
ОтветитьI really appreciate this rich history. It's fascinating and important to know because we are all connected as humans.
ОтветитьWe are all “one” in humanity. If only we would read; and not only read, but trust the Biblical scriptures, principles of the Word of God. Genesis 1: “In the beginning God created,”… and onwards.
ОтветитьThat theory makes more sense than any theory!! And yes de Soto was a cruel man
ОтветитьThey are British and Indian. They are related to the Mayles. The records show a British man married an Indian.
ОтветитьI recently traced my roots back to Elijah Bunch, a melungeon from Cumberland County KY. I’m proud to descend from these unique mountain people.
ОтветитьYour THEORY makes TOTAL SENSE!! The the only question I'm left with on my third listen to this is this: You say that they they kept really good records, but then go on to discuss this question that's lasted for nearly 400 years as to what happened. So, either they kept Good Records or we don't know what happened. Which is it? LOL!! 😮😂❤
ОтветитьVery interesting, Donnie. And where those slaves African?
ОтветитьI first heard about Melungeons from reading Demon Copperhead.
ОтветитьAll light skin people are mixed
ОтветитьBrilliant video! I love it. I wish more people would make videos like this. Super fun to watch and very informative!
ОтветитьFor some odd reason they called my great, great grandma was called Muddy, her father was Native American from Cherokee
ОтветитьMy Ancestors were mainly Scottish and Welsh, but Spain and Portugal came up too, odd. I passed that Spain DNA to both of my children.
ОтветитьYour voice is so gentle. Keep up the great work !!
ОтветитьI want a melungeon woman to be my queen
ОтветитьThey are from Anatolia Türkiye
ОтветитьWe live in Coburg Oregon and did a little DNA research a few years ago and discovered that we have melungeon DNA in our ancestry and as we were coming back from a football game my uncle went ahead and rubbed the hand across the back of his head and said well Jesus I got the Ridge and I look just like the pictures lol it was funny but we are all now a little bit curious
ОтветитьMakes sense to me. My dad was from big stone gap va. He said his m9m and her brothers were very dark. Dad was too.
Ответить
