20+ lbs lighter than the Skidoo with more power and better handling. No wonder it’s $20 grand.

Thanks Snowtrax, you guys have a great channel, appreciate the engagement with your audience too. I was hoping you could help me out, I've been waiting to snowcheck a VR1, but am considering a leftover Launch edition XC. I ride in Southern Adirondacks, in upstate NY, mostly trails. Will I notice much of a difference between the two models? Planning on keeping it long term, 850 137" and likely the 150 storm. Thanks in advance!

15grand is pushing it for a sled. 20gs... Forget it.

The Voyager 650 look sick. I also like that they keep the 550. When it comes available they should do a review on the 650 voyager.

Can't buy Polaris CC racer, can buy Skid-Doo Competition Package, seems like made the decision for me unless want to stick with my SnoPro600 which is well dialed in.

@Luke Lester less than a month ago you used input from "industry experts" to establish a weight corrected HP for the E-tec turbo of 155HP compared to 168 for the Patriot (at sea level). You went on to say that the Skl-Doo turbo doesn't overcome the deficit until 5K (i originally stated 7K) feet and that most mountain snowmobiles are operated at altitudes under 7K feet (I really struggle with this statistic). Now you are reporting the BOOST has 50% more power than the Patriot at 10K feet. Using your estimate of 185HP for the BOOST would imply 92.5HP for the Patriot. I'm not an "industry expert" but that implies the Patriot loses 4.5% of its HP for every 1000 feet. Meaning that at altitudes above 1722 feet it produces less than the 155HP produced by the E-tec turbo. Congrats to Polaris on an awesome 2022 lineup. I've owned more Polaris than Ski-Doo in my life and my 2020 decision was really tough...this one will be even tougher. I like the SnowTrax content but your unbiased bias is getting old (own it).

My question is this.. I wanted an answer from skidoo last year. When are they going to make our flatlander sleds turbo boost. That’s what I want. I would maybe jump ship the Polaris if they gave me turbo for the flat land. Shouldn’t have to buy a mountain sled just to get turbo

Hard to say we're getting exactly what we want when the graphs of average yearly temperatures and average new snowmobile MSRPs are both trending North. This year I saw more ATVs and UTVs in southern VT than sleds even with all the snow we got. The more niche snowmobiling becomes the less reason there is for trails to be maintained or new riders to jump onboard. Have fun with making payments on your 20k boosted sleds as the years roll by and the snow cover gets more and more variable...

I was impressed to see the Turbo Patriot engine but I feel sad that it didn't came on other Matryx sleds this year, especially the SBA for me. I'll have to wait a least another year before snowchecking one, this means driving it about nearly two years from now only if they are releasing it.

Only thing that gets me is the warranty. Seem like they lost some trust going from a standard 4 year to a two. On top of serious price hikes. Crazy line up for 2022 for sure. Im sure next year they will be putting those boost motors in trail sleds.

I love Snow Trax but I am getting a bit tired of the pandering. “They listen to their clients and give them what they want..” they could have cut the tunnel years ago. I don’t get why Polaris seems to lag in the things that their athletes mod every year and Ski Doo beats them to it. I know you say your reviews are unbiased but it just seems like you don’t want to say anything negative about Polaris. You can tell the truth and still love the sled.

I keep hearing that it’s not just altitude compensating.. but it is. If they say it maintains horsepower through 10k then it’s just maintaining that hp. Same as Ski Doo, they just gave it some boost at sea level. Its the same as the big 3 truck companies trying to beat the competitions hp by 10hp every year. They just unlock the mapping a bit and say everything is so much better.

I won't doubt Polaris' mountain sled line up being the debatable class leader, the amount of models is ridiculous and not in a good way! When it's time to snow check, pick a chassis, a power plant, track length, suspension/shock package, etc etc. Have it on an online configure platform hit send/email to the dealer and it's on its way.
