As a large white family in Memphis Tennessee in the mid 50s, Amos and Andy was a favorite we watched every early evening just before dinner Monday thru Friday at 6 pm.
ОтветитьI remember them in black-and-white TVs in the late 50s and early 60s. I was wondering where Lucius was?
ОтветитьWill be shown and discussed a thousand years from now.
Ответить🤣🤣🤣
Ответитьmisinterpretation in a comedy. never gets old.
ОтветитьI remember this show when I was a child. Watched it a lot.
ОтветитьHoley mackerel der Andy!!!
ОтветитьOur family never missed Amos and Andy. Calhoun the lawyer and the Kingfish were favorited.
ОтветитьI'm a white guy from Southern California, born in 1950. Always loved these guys.
I can't believe some "woke" folk want to have Amos & Andy banned.
Watched as a kid... Never though about Black or White.... just enjoyed.
ОтветитьLooking back, as blatantly racist as this was, it was really well written. So funny!
ОтветитьAnyone know when this was made? 1951-53 is what I found.
ОтветитьGreat ending. Ben
ОтветитьVery funny show. We've lost our sense of humor. everything is political now, Very sad.
ОтветитьWatched this show as a child.Very funny .Brings back great memories. Thanks
Ответитьlove.
ОтветитьI watched these shows originally on black & white TV. It aired at 10:30 pm.
ОтветитьHumor at its best! Used to watch this as a kid in the 50’s! Hilarious comedy! The golden years, of how everything has changed! Sad.
ОтветитьThanks so much for sharing these.... National Treasures!
ОтветитьI always loved these guys and I still do. Named my dog Sapphire after the King Fish’s wife.
ОтветитьThis show illustrates how Black people buffonery makes certain people feel safe. Straight bigotry.
ОтветитьLove this show.
ОтветитьI can remember as a little girl laying on the floor watching Amos and Andy with my mom and dad. Thank you sir for these old shows. So many memories go along with these wonderful shows.
ОтветитьThey were so talented and funny. It's a shame they were knocked out of a job.
ОтветитьJesse Jackson got this show off the t.v. He said it made blacks look stupid
ОтветитьI have loved this show since I was a little girl. The Christmas show is my favorite. Loved little Albedella saying her prayers. A wonderful show and I will never outgrow it. Thanks for this video.
ОтветитьRole models? Dude has an exaggerated Black sounding voice. For you not to understand how this is offensive to Black people....sounds like how White people who support The Confederate Flag justify their position by saying it's about 'culture', not Slavery.
ОтветитьIt was so sad when this show was canceled. It put a lot of great actors out of work.
The NAACP pressured CBS to cancel the show because some of the characters were shown as negative stereotypes.
It was comedy at its best! 💙
Well I agree to a point. I don’t know about kingfish being a role model or Andy being a role model, but I certainly never labeled them as typical Black people anymore than I labeled Ralph Kramden Or Ed Norton as typical white people. What I have done with both Amos and Andy and the honeymooners television show is related the incredibly funny humor to my own life. We all have a little Ralph Kramden and Ed Norton and Kingfish and Andy in us. I don’t think color has anything to do with the hilarious characters in either show.
ОтветитьWhether "woke" or not(a topic not even worth a discussion)funny is still funny.
ОтветитьI watched this show when I was a small child. I don't think it did me any harm,.
It never occurred to me to think all black people were like these characters. I just thought that these particular men were funny.
I remember this
ОтветитьI remember watching this while we ate dinner at night. I was in the fourth grade. Long time ago. Is this the one with the line Does the name Ruby Begonia strike a familiar note? I was just a kid but I thought they were funny.
ОтветитьOne of the best show ever
ОтветитьSo why would you think this racist when we had Laurel and Hardy? It was to make a person laugh. Nothing to do with the color of skin.
ОтветитьSo many positive comments. I just wonder how actual people of African descent feel about the fact that the radio version of this show was voiced by two WHITE guys doing their best imitation of stereotypical Black people. They might just love it anyway. Or not. And is Blacks talking about the IRS funnier than Whites? And if so, why would that be?
ОтветитьGreat show but blacks just dont understand it portrays the black culture to a t we dtill watch amos and andy wr bpugjt all their cds
ОтветитьThey made us laugh as kids.
ОтветитьLove it. Was misinterpreted by many. Well done and classic. Thank you.
ОтветитьI watched Amos and Andy as a young boy. I loved it. It made me realize that black people are no different than white people.
ОтветитьI used to watch it when I was little I Love it.
ОтветитьThese folks were hilarious. To bad people can’t have an open mind about race. It’s a shame the show is no longer on TV. A national lose.
ОтветитьThis is great television, no cussing, no nudity, and no depravity. These actors were amazing. The chemistry amongst the cast was tight.
ОтветитьA story line copied HUNDREDS of times by sitcoms that came afterwards for decades to come!
ОтветитьI love that show i watch it and
Would love to get the video of that show how do I get them
It's ironic 3 shows from the 50s when television was in it's infancy are among the funniest--The Honeymooners, I Love Lucy and Amos & Andy.
ОтветитьI don't think Amos 'N Andy were representative of black people anymore than The Three Stooges were representative of white people.
I guess the problem was this show was the ONLY show on Tv back then with an all black cast. Blacks just weren't represented at all very much back then.
All i know is funny is funny! And they were hilarious!
