The Rise and Reign of the Kadamba Dynasty

The first native kingdom to dominate over what is now the modern state of Karnataka, India, was the Kadamba Kingdom of Banavasi, founded by Mayurasharma or Mayuravarma (345–365 CE), a native of Talagunda (in the contemporary Shimoga district).
Following Mayur Varma, the most well-known Kadamban king was Kakusthavarma.
