God I miss MySpace 😭
ОтветитьThanks for sharing
ОтветитьPerhaps satellite's can be storing the data for the world wide web computer's on the world, just an idea
ОтветитьTime to make a video about Web3 and blockchain!!
ОтветитьIncredible work. Very difficult to find all this info.
ОтветитьI can’t find part 2
ОтветитьBitcoin
ОтветитьIts a big mess is what it is. We humans create garbage all the time in everything we do. The computer is just a digital place for the garbage we produce.
ОтветитьI wouldn't be surprised if a lot of what is remembered about the current internet in the future is the way it spreads misinformation and conspiracy theories like wildfire. Bad things will happen because of that and in 100 years it'll be "yeah the early internet is what led to all these tragedies, violence, and social upheaval".
Ответитьnecroing here; this series is great but completely failed to mention gopher, which was a pretty big step toward the web. i don't even think telnet was mentioned.
ОтветитьAnyone has a summary of it?
ОтветитьI remember back in high school we were creating websites and we thought we were the king of the world we had the power of greyskull
ОтветитьI had DSL in 98 that had 1-7Mb/s down speeds and that came through a twisted pair phone line. It was better than cable was for years. By the time it wasn't I had a FTTH connection which is vastly superior to cable. I feel like I live in the dark ages only having cable internet access where I live now. 25Mbps up is not even close to enough today.
ОтветитьI remember teaching myself html and building my first website on geocities during Study Hall back in the early 2000s.
ОтветитьThank u guys. I really enjoyed the series
ОтветитьJesus loves you
ОтветитьMy brother in Law told me that Friendster was awesome back then.
ОтветитьMan, of all the stuff talked about in this, it's the bits about the algorithm affecting or guiding moods and flow of information that ended up being the most important.
ОтветитьIn my dial-up days, anything approaching 56k was a friggin miracle! 😳
ОтветитьIts 2021 now,, I suspect smart people start finding privacy nodes/groups/social platforms more valuable. Like a country club. & to keep the snitch out (Google & Facebook) it will be nodes on Blockchain asap platforms.
Leaving the WWW we all knew in 2020 as some sort of bad neighborhood.
anyone here from 2021?
ОтветитьPlease make videos explaining the deep web
ОтветитьOk
ОтветитьWhat about national borders and the Internet? Should've added something about that in the end. I guess, it's not a major thing for the hegemon (US), but for the rest of the world it's huge. Zuckerberg and the rest answer before american congress not before UN. Most people in the world are as much "citizens of the Internet" as slaves were citizens in ancient Greece. Even "voting with money" concept seems to be fading away as corporations get better and manipulating and shoving things down people's throats. Good series though. Thanks 👍
ОтветитьHas any company taken more L's than Yahoo
ОтветитьIs anthing faster than fibre optic cable that can transfer my data faster
ОтветитьHmm makes me wonder whats next after technology? Or better yet what is left to create and for what?
Ответить“who doesn’t love pictures of puppies and babies?”
well, you’re half right
who else had a myspace in 04 🙋♂️
ОтветитьThis guy is better presenter than other guys who were 1st and 2nd parts.
ОтветитьGetting going
ОтветитьAfter watching this whole miniseries, this might seem like a dumb question, but now I'm wondering if it's possible for someone to gain control or even shut down the internet? What is the internet, anyway? Just a bunch of computers communicating with one another? In that case, the only way to control or shut down the internet would be to somehow control/shut down every single computer in the world, which is obviously not possible. At the same time, so many of us rely on internet providers, I suppose if someone were to somehow shut down every internet provider (Optimum, Fios, etc.) then they would effectively be shutting down the internet.
ОтветитьMark doesn't run Facebook from his laptop what
ОтветитьYahoo bought geo city's
Geo city's gonna have a bad time
Good content. I am surprised that AOL was not mentioned. It had a huge impact on people connecting to the internet for the first time; myself included.
Ответитьthis guys appearance distracted me and i didnt learn anything the first few minutes.
who looks in the mirror and says "yeah this is the look im going for, this shirt looks good, my hair is sick, my "beard" is nice"
Amazing! Part 3
Ответитьmy mom had a friendster account back in 1999!
ОтветитьDigg lol
ОтветитьOh my I had no idea Disqus was an alternative spelling of “discuss” I always pronounced it “discus”
ОтветитьI like the video.
ОтветитьGreat series. Please make one-time donations an option for supporters that don’t want to opt-in to monthly donations (outside of patreon?)
ОтветитьSextillions of years ago...
Before Google himself.
There was a thing called...
"The Internet" or "The Web"
It was a big planet first.
Then it evolved...
Every million years it became bigger and bigger.
But then it split...
Into a bigger one...
It's 500 times bigger then the world you live in now...
"The Deep Web"...
Legends say it was so dangerous it had to be destroyed...
But there were other people.
Different people...
They had a war what we call "The Ancient War"...
The other people were so powerful that the humans gave up and went home...
But then one warrior found things called "Memes".
He stole them and ran away...
He closed the gate to the Deep Web...
Memes were so expensive that they fought for it...
Nowadays Memes are still very expensive but humans make their own and sell them...
No one still knows about The Deep Web that much...
They haven't been a threat for a thousand years...
Or are they?
