While Maduro eats at 5 star restaurants, the majority of his population lives in extreme poverty. These people have no choice to leave. For plenty its leave, or starve to death. hyper inflation has the population in a choke hold. Important context: in the 90s there was an event called the Caracazo, which was a massive protest movement led by the country’s poorest against an extremely unequal society where American multi national oil companies owned the majority of the country’s oil production. Chavez came to power as a result of this and effectively eliminated poverty in his country within years using the massive oil reserves. This was just 30 years ago. People remember this and Venezuelans know that the opposition party simply wants to return to the past where American oil companies owned the economy and political class. Yes Maduro is a terrible authoritarian leader as was Sudam Hussein in Iraq, but don’t believe the American propaganda that they care about human rights or democracy. They simply want to own the oil reserves again. That’s it. And most Venezuelans know this

What happened? Neocon John Bolton became White House National Security Advisor in 2018. The US froze all of Venezuela's money. Imposed sanctions and oil embargo against Venezuela. Without that money to take care of her people, Venuzuealeans headed for the US. If the US unfreeze that money today, Venuzuealeans will return to their own country. Until 7 or 8 years ago Venuzuealeans had no reason to migrate to the United States because Venezuela used that money to take care of her own citizens.

The people of Venezuelan need to remove this dictator. That is the only way citizens are going to have a life in Venezuelan.

Hard to imagine that Venezuela at one point used to be the wealthiest nation per captia in South America. Venezuelans lived comfortably, had a great economy, a high middle class population and now it's completely ruined. In the next few years I can see the country decending into total civil war or military invasion from Columbia because their relations are also pretty bad and for a few years now both have been waving their fists at eachother. Also let's not forget Venezuelas threats against Guyana where that will certainly force a war between Venezuela and the UK and possibly the US.
