No offense all but I feel like Kushiel’s Dart discussion isn’t going to be as entertaining as you all seem to think it will be, most likely just gonna devolve into Nerdy (justifiably) ranting about slavery again.

Nerdy on fire with Chekovs gun discussion and the commentary on the rather problematic pacing of Shadesmar.
This podcast really is best when Nerdy is really interested in the plot and really likes the book and it shows in moments like these. Great episode (so far, not finished yet)

Also: Nerdy is 100% right about Checkov’s gun. Y’all are wild out here.

Nerdy's opinon on setup and foreshadowing so much the polar opposite of mine. He's like why is Hoid in this series? Why did he give Kal a flute that is never referenced again? And I'm just like, excited to find out when its time to find out. I doubt it'll ever happen, but I'd be really interested in seeing them read The Malazan Book of the Fallen, specifically for its use way of setuping up plotlines, characterization and worldbuilding. My gut says at least Nerdy would bounce off it, but I'd love it nonetheless.

I was only half listening the first time, and got concerned that no one seems to know what a flute does. 😆 That being said, while I agree that this wasn't one, I think the best Chekov's Guns are the ones where you don't think it's important at first, then it becomes important later. I think the important part Nerdy misses is the whole "plot relevance" thing. Bringing out a spoon and then eating with it later isn't one, because it isn't relevant to the plot.
It's funny to watch Nerdy go "I'm smarter than the Internet," though.
Edit: to clarify, I don't think you're wrong, but I also didn't think you're entirely right. As normal! 😁

Did this recording end a bit abruptly?

The reason Odium is blind around Renarin is because Renarin can see possible futures as well. Like how two Mistborn burning Atium cancel each other out.

I just checked my Apple podcast feed, this one, and the part 2 still aren't available. Wasn't sure if you knew.

"it would need to be one planet going to war with another planet" is basically the backstory of stormlight archives, with humans and odium from some planet going to war with parsh of Roshar.
