The Trek Wars continue to save our once beloved franchises.

To be fair, for all we know, Simon Kinberg may have actually improved those scripts from having been in worse conditions. I am concerned too, not sure if he is ready for these projects yet. I hope he proves us wrong with delightfully awesome Star Trek and Star Wars movies. I would have preferred if the Star Trek Origin film would have been made by Erik Jendresen, of Band of Brothers, who pitched his origin Star Trek: The Beginning trilogy that sadly never got made.

Word is that Simon Kinberg working on Star Wars is complete fiction, a rumour leaked by KK.

Why is the same man doing both franchises is the real question

2 franchise flops at the same time will be impressive.

Not good. Kinberg has a very hit and miss career. Seems like when he's directing/producing he's better than when he's writing.

EDIT: I'm also concerned that one person is doing both of these franchises. They are very different from each other and I don't know if Kinberg has the skill to write them both - basically I'm worried that the spirits of the two franchises will get watered down and mixed together, making them more similar to each other.

Star Wars is not Sci-Fi. George Lucas, who grew up on Sci-Fi, has repeatedly denied that SW is part of that genre. I am not enthused that they are put under the same guy, as if they are the same thing, to be made the same way (like JJ did).

He would have to try really, really hard to make something worse then what Abrams and Kurtzman have done.

Jumper WAS decent... but failed because it was completely different from books supposedly based on & fans panned it. (Tho author claimed he liked the film's take in the commentary). Did spawn a series, "Impulse" which ran for 3(?) seasons. Haven't watched yet, so who knows.

Maybe Paramount are taking cost cutting way tooooo far....

I am somewhat worried about a Producer who has several big misses, but if the majority of the misses are sci-fi projects then F me... we're screwed. If the trilogy is to work, perhaps bring back Jolene Blalock and a radically aged Scott Bakula, perhaps even some of the other Enterprise cast.

Just remaster DS9 and Voyager already.

As far as Star Wars is concerned I think that anything that comes out of Lucas film or Kathleen Kennedys mouth is a pack of lies. I don’t think there’s anything new being done right now except the Mandalorian and Grogu movie and I know who’s directing that one and writing the script as far as. Star Trek is concerned I don’t trust anybody that hasn’t written for Star Trek in the past

I feel you. I have been a huge fan of Chris Chibnall, until he did Doctor Who. I guess a great writer/producer can lose their way. Will Kinberg be the same???? I also loved a lot of what JJ did, in the past, and then he destroyed Trek.

there hasn't been a really good SW's project after the first 3 films created sorry . Everything after is just lazy filler. As for Trek enjoyed all the New films highly enjoyable and loved the cast and filler history. But the TV shows Discovery so so bad, lower decks 🤮thank Crom at least we had Picard to save us ,(but I will say in premiss section 31) has my interest and hopefully more views through the mirror darkly and maybe that Archer was really the temporal being and some extra Sulibon and Andorran's history's

You spelled Abrams' surname wrong in the title and summary. If Abrams involved with the production in any way, even if it's 'claimed' that he is only paid as a toilet room attendant, or even as a nonpaid volunteer, I absolutely will not be in the audience. Something akin to a court order to have no contact and stay more than 1,000 feet from the production, under penalty of life in prison would be a good start.

Abrams at least used to be a solid producer, now he isn't even on the MI movies. And he can't get a single thing made. Except for a Batman cartoon.

I think Kinberg has higher chance of turning out a decent Trek film over Star Wars. Trek, at least has a chance of recovery, unlike Star Wars.

Just keep him away from comic book movies
