What do use in clear water rivers?

I usually fish creeks and canals coming off the Detroit River so braided works fine for me because the water is very green and murky so the fish won’t see it easily. I also use dark green coloured braided so it blends in even more.

I fpitch jig with braid. I use a really long fluro leader so I don't think lt matters. Plus I don't fish clear water often

So so true, that’s crazy because last year i stop using braid and started using nothing but 100% Fluorocarbon (Tatsu) and noticed a huge difference….

What about a leader? I run 50 lb braid for the high diameter and 12 lb mono with 2-3 feet depending on water clarity. Is it still playing an effect at that point or is it fine?

What about braid to fluorocarbon leader? Like everybody uses on spinning rods. I definitely use braid on spinning rods but I use probably about 25 ft fluorocarbon leaders.

What if im fishing for pike it can cut your fluoro ( i don't use braid neather, I use fluoro with a green leader)

i fish clear mountain spring waters with particularly picky fish and prefer braid for every application get a thinner test in a color that matches your water

Actually braids place is on every rod you use in every situation, braid doesn't spook fish bud, and if you're worried about it use a leader! (Thats what they're for) also floro is visible as well...

What about mono

So braid scares fish, but artificial lures with treble hooks doesn't? Sounds like someone has a sponsor to serve.

I've never seen anyone use straight braid without a leader of floro.

Yup!!! My buddy took me fishing out here for the first time in ND, he wasn’t catching any fish but I was slaying pike, next time I had him change his line to 15lb floro and sure enough he started catching left and right

I catch more fish then any moron with floro out there, technique is 90% of the game, gear is the just the limiter to what you can bring in. I can catch bass on a willow leaf spray-painted yellow and split shot with a circle hook. using a leader made of 3 braided 8lb test pet line to the hook. The number of times i have heard, "Your're the only one out here catching fish today" from the wardens makes me laugh, yeah cause i know where the fucking fish are.

Fluorocarbon is the bomb!

Well use your braid and don't use straight braid in clear water 😂. They can also see clear line too regardless of what you think. I always bring a combo with flouro and a combo with straight braid and it really doesn't matter that much.

Plus braid floats doesn’t drop as fast don’t get to see as much fish

I catch plenty of fish with braided filament the only problem I ever had with it was when I hooked a giant and didn’t think anything was going to break it for a second I thought my poll was going to break but the line did and I think if the line didn’t break my fishing pole would have it just happened way to fast though I was snagged and gave it slake when I started polling back it decided at the same time it wasn’t having it and took off
