Everest LP 3167 notes: “Following distinguished musical studies in Russia and Germany, SB came to the USA, where he took First Prize, at the age of 22, in the National Piano Competition. He was subsequently engaged as a soloist by Stokowski and Koussevitzky with the Philadelphia and Boston SO, his career only being interrupted by the war. He served as an officer in the USAF, and following his discharge, settled in Cannes in 1947, where he devoted his time entirely to composition. Among the many works he wrote at this voluntary retreat are the "Mediterranean Suite" and the Piano and Violin Concertos.”
