Good stuff, but please don't fall into the trap of calling 13 pin cables MIDI cables. MIDI cables are five pin. 13 pin cables are analog cables: they carry seven separate analog signals plus the switch gear signals not MIDI data. Another key point that people should be aware of is that this does not use standard stereo TRS cables. It requires specific types of Boss-branded TRS cables and will not work with standard ones. So you do get a more durable cable compared to the old 13 pin cables, but you're still paying extra money for a specialized cable that you can't pick up just anywhere.

Can you play the pickup into midi sound libraries rather than the boss sounds? How’s the tracking?

Does anyone know if the tones or presets are different from the SY-200?

So is it possible to sample sounds then process them so they can be loaded in to 800 to use?

It's not a stereo cable. It a specially shielded serial data transmission cable. It sends a digital signal from the GK-5 to the GM-800

It's not a "normal" trs cable!!...it's a special cable for that unit!!...best test for tracking is piano!!...

A great tool for those who are good at Guitar and want to make music on synth but cant since they dont know how to play keys and any other instrument other than guitar, like me.

Sorry just another toy by Roland. I've been waiting since the 70's for a box with REAL sampled vst sounds that can be triggered by midi WITHOUT going to a PC dealing with the load times for live performance. Come on Roland, outside of just a few sounds like the B3 and piano, where is this stuff at? Put it out there. You guys are great with effects, but the asteroid space sounds are completely unusable.

The one thing that a lot of people don’t bring up: Roland has finally got their pitch tracking worked out. Seems like they perfected it on the GM-800. Huge improvement over their last 15 years of guitar synths.
