Ya, it works as long as it doesn't come to blows.
It creates drama and could have been a learning experience for all concerned.

If the sexes were reversed and a female veteran reporter argued to a junior male reporter about men being washed up early in a say, a sport , there would be no firings.
Reality can be brutal at times and we should strive to make life more equitable without cancelling people that address these issues head on.
