Fisher runs the team the way Trump runs our country. Freaking chaos and hate.
ОтветитьIn music editing the A’s move to Sacramento is called drag and drop.
ОтветитьEnjoy the tariffs Johnny Boy!
ОтветитьThe most disturbing part to me is I see Bob Nutting of the Pirates using this same playbook.
ОтветитьThe A’s need to put Sacramento on the jerseys/merch and team name there gonna be there for 3 years. The Hornets after Hurricane Katrina were in Oklahoma City for 1 year & put “Oklahoma City on their jerseys and name it’ll get the A’s more money in merch sales if they put Sacramento on the jerseys and name & possibly get Sacramento a chance to get an expansion team look at what happens when Oklahoma City hosted the Hornets.
ОтветитьFisher wasn't penalized for not having a plan because making the bay area a single team market was always the plan. Fisher was allowed to conduct himself in this manner because this is what MLB wanted. There has always been a logical solution to the A's for a new stadium, downtown San Jose was always the answer and MLB/Giants opposition to this made zero sense other than they wanted the Giants to own the whole market.
ОтветитьWhy would we want to go see a crap rental? There’s more affordable and fun things to do than see the A’s lose 11-2 with the false hope we’ll get the team to stay. The A’s aren’t our team and they never will be. Don’t be a sucker.
ОтветитьIn 3 or 4 years Fisher will be a hero in Las Vegas. Compare Dodgers and Giants move from New York to California.
This may not be just, but it is reality.
Fisher spent a number of years essentially making it seem as though it was a fair idea to move. Doing nothing to care for the ballpark, raising ticket prices, essentially making a Minor League team and making the attendance look bad shows his plan for a number of years to move the team to a new city in a brand new ballpark. I bet he sells the team when they’ve moved.
ОтветитьGO BALLERS!!! And all OAKLAND teams!!!
ОтветитьSo the A's did not go to Sacramento because they wanted to. The A's had to stay in NorCal to keep that way overpriced NBCSC contract paying them. No secret there. So it should be no secret either that Fishwrap is trying to use Sacramento fans' money to move to the team to Vegas, where he doesn't have nearly enough money - especially on The Strip - to plant himself...But make no mistake. This isn't just an A's disease. This is a Baseball disease. This is an MLB disease. It's playing out with not just the A's, but now the Rays, the ChiSox, the Marlins, and possibly the D'Backs, Pirates, Royals, Cards, and if things keep going the way they're going, the Rockies...What Oaklanders did post-A's was heartening. They started the B's. An Independent baseball team, that still embodies the spirit of the game itself - not the opportunist, mercantile, horseracing grift that MLB has become. I'm hoping that the B's, along with other independent teams can take cues from the Savannah Bananas (who already outdraw MLB) to restore the game to the fans, and not just the sociopathic gambling interests of MLB owners...Best of luck on your new series DA...
ОтветитьOakland told MLB and Sacramento
ОтветитьLas Vegas Athletics??? Are you serious??? Let the taxpayers decide!!!
ОтветитьThis was a great interview!
ОтветитьSELL 💛💚⚾️🌳
ОтветитьHow the fuck does Kotsay still have a job
ОтветитьGreat interview 👏
ОтветитьThank you!
ОтветитьI’m not an A’s fan but thank you for giving A’s fans and Oakland a voice to inform people that it’s a Fisher issue, not an Oakland issue!
ОтветитьFINALLY! Been waiting for this narrative to be spoken about. The animosity from the "Last Dive Bar" crowd, and locals in the Sacramento region, has been unbecoming. You and Mr. Moore are so right, us Sacramento area residents are conflicted. I will not attend, but I can't fault others, as you guys mention, for attending. I was in Old Sacramento this past weekend on our way to a music event at a venue near Sutter Health Ballpark, and there were Phillies fans everywhere. Really good for the economy.
ОтветитьDamon for president! Thank you for exposing this. From West Sacramento
ОтветитьIt's not working at Sutter Health Park the players need to stand up and say after this season no more playing in minor league parks ending playing in Sacramento. The players are complaining they don't want to be there. The A's need to go back to the new mayor in Oakland Barbara Lee and sign a two year interim deal to get back to the Oakland Coliseum and play their final two interim seasons at the Coliseum. It's not working the way it is now,
ОтветитьPortraying the Seattle group as the bad guy in almost taking the Kings annoys me. Seattle just had its team taken, to a smaller market no less. Unfortunately, it’s kill or be killed in this and Seattle is still waiting for an NBA team…
It’s good that Sacramento kept the Kings obviously and the A’s are getting screwed now. Moving to Las Vegas will be a boondoggle.
You and the rest of the media fail to mention the mediocre attendance over the decades, well before John Fisher’s time. The fact that is hard to dispute is the Bay Area (#10 media market) does not successfully support 2 MLB teams. The A’s are especially impacted because most fans in the market support the Giant’s. Besides the Bay Area market, the only other markets to host 2 MLB teams are the top 3, New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago. The poor attendance at A’s games in Oakland over many decades clearly points to the market, rather than the stadium condition, the team performance, or the ownership. While some may point to specific problems in Oakland, especially the ownership history, the statistics compare the A's to other teams, many also with less than perfect situations. Statistics over decades tend to wash out specific problems or excuses.
The fans are not to blame. They are passionate, but too few in number.
Average attendance compared to the American League teams:
From Baseball Almanac, in all the years in Oakland, the attendance has been below American League average for each year except for 9 years. Even in 1974, their 3-peat year, attendance was next to worst in the American League.
The Bay Area media and some others such as yourself have ignored the A's money losing and the business and political climates in Oakland, or the A's attempts over 20+ years to get a stadium solution in the Bay Area.
I have spoken to many other fans in Las Vegas as well as TV and print sports reporters. We completely reject your and others' views. John Fisher is being warmly welcomed, and the rest of you can go to hell.
I go to all the A’s games. The fan attendance since being in Sac is about 3800 fans more than it was in Oakland from 2024. Lots of people coming out and enjoying themselves, and this is with the A’s currently a losing team.
ОтветитьEast Bay native in Arizona. This situation has ruined baseball for me.
ОтветитьThe Vegas groupies are saying the attendance was always an Oakland issue. But at the same time they expect a large group of Oak land fans & tourists that didnt see the A's in Cal to spend thousands of $ to come to Vegas see that same team. Not going to happen. This isnt the Raiders.
Ответить@Damon I'm here in sac and I don't think you can underestimate the lack of enthusiam for the a's has some loose correlation to Sac Kings fans experience with a mettlesome owner, who doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground... sprinkle on top everything else..fisher, prices, losing record at home etc... its all of the above... A master class in anti marketing
ОтветитьIf the A’s end up in Vegas then they will be just like the raiders, a shell of their former self with no hometown fans and no soul. In Oakland they were gritty teams for blue collar sports fans. In Vegas they will be just a novelty and a place for visiting fans to see their team.
Ответить1) The Kings were for sale and the A's are not. This is not the same situation. Sacramento had Kevin Johnson as mayor and he worked to keep the Kings in the city. Oakland's mayor was a crook and was fed up with dealing with Fisher.
2) The A's weren't going to stay in Oakland for 3 more years under any circumstance(Coliseum rent increase, ongoing protests by Last Dive Bar, etc). Sacramento was the 1 and only choice given their TV contract.
3) Attendance in Sacramento would be better if not for the bumbling of their sales department(Not putting Sacramento in the name, overpricing and undercutting season ticket holders, no marketing to the community, etc). Hard to root for a team when the team doesn't even represent the city. Let's go Sacram..... ahhh. Even so; if you use % of stadium capacity as a metric of attendance, I wouldn't doubt Sacramento is at the top of the league. 😊
This will forever be a massive miscalculation by MLB & Fisher. The team, the colors, the history are SO important and interwoven into the Oakland culture & community that ripping it out of it's home like this murders it by default. This team was made cool by the Town and East Bay folks. Not to mention the rich history that the organization so desperately wants to sell Vegas while simultaneously hoping that they don't have to acknowledge Oakland. They won't allow signs, drums at their minor league park and let's not even talk about their social media. The SECOND they think it's safe to turn comments back on its over for them. They're cowards of the highest magnitude and I feel sorry for the players because we like them and WANT to support them but can't support the AAA's because of their GREEDY owner.
ОтветитьSacramento is less than 2 hours from Oakland. A’s fans in Sacramento were Oakland A’s fans. They have seen and experienced Fisher. Most A’s fans, including in Sac want nothing to do with Fisher. Unless Fisher sells, A’s fans will not support the A’s. Those that are going are apart of the problem. They are why owners get away with treating fans this way. But this is why the attendance is low.
ОтветитьOakland fans thank you D.A.!! 🍻💚
ОтветитьD.A....thank you . If this neon city a's stadium ever happens those citizens are $#@! fools for playing up to Fisher and they deserve everything they buy into because they have been more than warned . Sacramento and its fans...the SF gnats ..MLB Owners did NOTHING to prevent the end of the Oakland A's so as a former Oakland A's fanatic and a 21 year employee of the Green & Gold really have no feeling for them.... Lots of GREED caused the move of the A's out of Oakland and GREED is one of the 7 Deadly Sins....
ОтветитьKeep reporting on this story Damon!
ОтветитьD.A thanks for supporting the A's fans
ОтветитьSacramento does have many A's fan
ОтветитьUntil shovels are in the ground with a financial plan in place, I'm paying attention, because the war isn't over. And Joe Lacob has more money than Vivek. Keep it up Damon, sincerely every Oakland A's fan. Thanks Dan!
ОтветитьFisher is killing 3 markets, Sacramento, Las Vegas and Oakland. Fisher wants this to prolong this situation so he can have tax write offs and more public handouts.
ОтветитьHappy Thursday
Ответитьsounds like sac doesent want the a's. i keep hearing they want an expansion team.
ОтветитьWell spoken by Dan. And rad shirt. FJF
