ОтветитьI would spend that amount for a monopoly
Ответитьfor the alg
ОтветитьI know this is old but i was so sure you were going to bring up GSC and how you can make all the characters from a neophyte box wirh kit bashing
Ответить90% of my models are from battleforces
ОтветитьI'm I on crack or did they completely skip Eldar? They went over Drukari but I didn't hear any mention of Eldar.
ОтветитьWow, really happy to have been starting my ad mech army! :)
Going to look for Blender tutorials now and look up the closest makers-space for no particular reason :)
I bought a new 2000 point imperial guard army for around £350 no way did guard not make the cut
ОтветитьI was not offended by this video! I demand a refund
ОтветитьIt is a year later…have you guys set up a trip to Britain just to buy warhammer yet?
ОтветитьOr 3D print them and every army is under $500 :D
ОтветитьWhere does one find these free Rhinos?
ОтветитьYou’re not even including paint and accessories.
500 is impossible to get an army and go play a game at a shop
tried this a year on from this and necrons can still just about do it but it's only because of the nightbringer and the deciever. still being finecast.
ОтветитьA similar army to the one i run during 8 its 1750 points....
To put it at 2000 it would be 805€
I’ve learned 3 things from this video Knights look cool, Custodians are cheap, and rhinos are free
ОтветитьThe phrases "500$" and "affordable" should never be in the same sentence.
Unless you're talking about a gaming PC or something.
My Knight army was significantly cheaper than usual due to being able to get the Battleforce Box. 4 Helverins and a Canis Rex for £103.38 ($132 ish), I wish i had the money at the time to buy two of them as that by itself would have been a 2000pt army for less than £210
Ответитьis it still possible today?
Ответитьits a shame, im in 2024 and there was another pricew hike again...GW does have a win magin of estimated 60%. Normal to great, considered win margins are around 10-20%. They have no need to do this, but they do it. This Challenge will be possible to do 2 years from now, the Custodes will stay at 500 at the only lonely one.
I have some old white dwarfs from 2012, and the 500th white dwarf. In one there was a instruction to make a shadowsword out of cardboard...and a rhino. That was for the players that can not affort some modells, all gone, greeed overtook it. There were Prices of "the new Finecast modells" in 2013 charackters were 11,50 euro...Charackters!
White Dwarf had models in it, for the 500th anniversary magazine they had none, just some rules that are outdated in a few months of troops you dont play... i just started with the hobby at the end of 9th edition i literally have almost no chance that a 2000p army does not cost 800-1000 euro especially because i played LotR strategy battlegames before from GW in 2012. You got 20 uruk hai for 10 Euro back then. and a magazine with so many figures in it and rules you never needet anything else to buy it for 6,50 euro each month, you got heroes in it made out of tin and battleline troops for szenarios. The rules didnt change for over 10 years.
But with 40k i have to get into it because friends whould want to play older editions, when the last codex drops of 10th, the 11th edition will be announced two weeks later i promise this, with new rule books and shit you have to buy. And remember it was cheeky like this. votan still have basicly no lore, and other lore was redconned and i hate it!
I thnk we need full online rules, i whould pay for more plastic if i didnt had to buy new books every 2 years!
About the grey Knight combat patrol. You mentioned a situation where you have the GK Combat patrol and a Friend has the Ad Mech one...
It is still kind of balanced because you're not allowed to use all of the units in the Combat Patrol.
You have to choose between terminators and the Dreadknight.
I don't know if I'm doing somthing wrong but Amazon just has the same or higher prices than GW.
ОтветитьYou can still get a 2000 point army for under 500 for Custodes.
2x new Combat Patrol. 1x Canis Rex.
Without building any shield captains you have 2x blade champs, 2x 5 man guard, 2x 5 man Warden, 2x 3 man Allarus, and Canis Rex subbing in for 2 Caladius grav tanks.
Not an optimized list but its the best I can come up with at under 500. (Edit: NM after the most recent price jump, it's now $515 MSRP.)
For 500$ I could buy a printer capable of making my own models and multiple rolls of fil
ОтветитьI wish you could just get rhinos for free again now it seems impossible.
ОтветитьBeen spending the past couple of weeks looking into WH40K for the first time. I'm lucky enough to have a high household income. I can absolutely afford 2000+ pt armies for each of my kids, spouse and myself, as well as quality paint and supplies.
However, we decided not to get into it, and there are a couple of seemingly dumb reasons. GW wants whales, but doesn't know how to attract them. When we go on holiday, our spot knows we spend, and in response, we never have to deal with any friction points, and WH40K is riddled with them. Top that with the fact that I feel like GW is treating my family and I as if we're idiots. None of my problems have to do with cost.
My spouse being keen on T'Au, we see a box with "Nine models" showing 3 figures on the box. Well no, its 3 figures and six drones. Does GW think we're stupid? Ditto the T'Au shield / terrain cover thing. Shows a munch of soldiers on the cover. Of course, not included. Just toss some in, GW. You want whales? Then treat us like whales.
How about I can walk into a store, and just buy one big box for a genuinely competitive 2000 point army, curated by a competitor. I'd buy six factions worth right then and there, along with six boxes of "One of every paint color, plus 3 more of the most common ones, a bunch of primers, wet palate, actually good brushes, common speed paints, tools, dry brushes and a good air brush". That said, I didn't mind so much just getting staff to guide us to grab whatever.
The real pain was that the rules for each faction are split off as separate products. If I feel like I'm being nickel and dimed, I feel annoyed. Just give me the one price once for everything I need. It wastes my time and feels like I'm dealing with some desperate company. I can't play this war game if I don't know the opponent's rule set, so just do like everyone else and include all the rules in one place.
Not that it matters, because learning that in 2 years from everything we spend time doing, painting and learning will be worthless in two years' time.
I genuinely feel the only people who'd willingly engage with a business that cares so little about your time or the value of their own product at these prices are either naïve, desperate, or lacking a spine.
Assuming they want to attract lifetime whales, and more of them, GW needs to:
1) put all rules, for all factions, into one paid product. Cosmic Encounter and Twilight Imperium don't split it up.
2) if errata are frequently required, provide me the option to purchase high quality printed updates, or just deliver it to me without me asking.
3) Price each faction similarly per 1000 points and eat the margin delta. loss leaders drive new customers.
4) Craft big boxes of genuinely interesting and strong armies, 2500 points worth, while offering higher margin one-off models. On the side for later purchase if I want.
5) Edition last no less than 5 years. I'd mandate 10 year edition cycles with 3-year discounted beta tests to solidify the quality of the subsequent release.
6) I'd mandate further rule simplification. The franchise succeeds despite the actual game, which genuinely seems like a slog carried by the quality of the lore and beauty of its minis. I suspect the reason minis are required to be painted at games is to help cover up that very fact.
7) I'd invest heavily into high quality media like Astartes Project and blockbuster films, in addition to Space Marines 2 video games.
8) I'd cut prices steeply. If GW can't survive selling 2000 pt armies at $395/pop to 20x the customers buying 3x the armies, for the benefit of solidifying themselves as the generation's choice tabletop game, competing with D&D culturally, they don't deserve to be in business.
GW wants to be the Porsche (or more realistically Lexus) of wargame toys, but treat me like I'm at a Hyundai dealership while selling me a Dodge at Audi prices.
Stop with all the extras and addons for basic components. Just give me everything I need in one spot, and ill buy six of them, and if I like it I'll be back to buy six more factions worth. Offer me in-store paint lessons for the fam and just include it if I buy 4+ factions worth of 2000 pt armies.
I'd love an updated version of this!
ОтветитьCrazy to think that in 2019 I bought 2,000 points worth of Space Marines to make a custom chapter for just under 400 dollars on one payday, just on a whim. Wanted to convert them to a custom chapter since I had no regular space marines up till then, just orks and chaos. Price deflation in 10th combined with the multiple massive price hikes is ridiculous. glad I did most of my collecting already
ОтветитьHearing that it costs 500$ makes me very, very glad i decided to just print my force.
ОтветитьI’m legit curious if anything other than Custodes is doable now
Ответить>me, starting tau, at 1325 points ;_;
ОтветитьLooks like Harlequins werent even mentioned, yet again
ОтветитьHavent collected this game in 8 years and i dont know what happened to the prices. I mean it was very expensive back in the day but god damn comissar is 32€
ОтветитьHi, "MSRP" has been mentioned in a ton of videos and not defined, and google isnt helping. What is MSRP?
Ответитьis "he bought a rhino at MSRP" in-group speak for "they are not the brightest"?
ОтветитьI remember playing 5-6e 'Crons, laughing when you ended the list remembering that I could never hit exactly 2000pts since there was lots of weird odd numbered costs
ОтветитьRewatched and decided to go and get 3 grey knights combat patrols. Was wondering what you would recommend to make for 10th?
Ответить"Rhinos are free, they don't want you to know this. I have 432 rhinos at home please take some" is the best take away from this I have gotten
ОтветитьI love playing ASOIAF, where $500 can get me 2-3 armies.
ОтветитьWith space marines, they didn’t consider trying to buy into Horus heresy stuff, the big box for Horus heresy has so much value to it and you can most likely get 2000 pts from it
ОтветитьAlmost 2 years later and I now own 6K Marines, 1.5K Agents, and 1K Guard…
ОтветитьCrazy dedicated people + Internet + the existence of 3d-printers = more than half a billion in revenue for GW, a company that sells plastic at 1.000.000% of its value.
Only in world such as ours is something this moronic possible.
Mid 10th edition it's possible to do Dark Angels. $512 and a bit of kitbashing, but it's a solid army.
Lion, $70, 285 points.
3 boxes of Deathwing Knights, $210, 750 points.
Box of terminators, $70, 180 points.
Another box of terminators that get kitbashed into 5 characters using parts from all the other boxes, $70, -440 points.
Box or either tartaros or cataphractii terminators, built as 2 more terminator squads or relic terminators. $92, 360 points.
Tha army works on multiple levels: Six characters, six squads. Primarch leading his First Company. The pretty DK models, new terminators, relic terminators.
Quick reminder we recorded this last week before the point changes. Nothing WILD changed in these lists (Space Marines is now even harder to get to 2k, etc) but technically all Brad's exact numbers are off a bit either direction for points values starting next week. There's also some minor editing errors sprinkled throughout, but it's still a miracle there was time for this to get made in the first place. Please give our editor a round of applause for jamming this out over what was meant to be a break period!
