{ وَلَوۡ یُؤَاخِذُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلنَّاسَ بِظُلۡمِهِم مَّا تَرَكَ عَلَیۡهَا مِن دَاۤبَّةࣲ وَلَـٰكِن یُؤَخِّرُهُمۡ إِلَىٰۤ أَجَلࣲ مُّسَمࣰّىۖ فَإِذَا جَاۤءَ أَجَلُهُمۡ لَا یَسۡتَـٔۡخِرُونَ سَاعَةࣰ وَلَا یَسۡتَقۡدِمُونَ (٦١) وَیَجۡعَلُونَ لِلَّهِ مَا یَكۡرَهُونَۚ وَتَصِفُ أَلۡسِنَتُهُمُ ٱلۡكَذِبَ أَنَّ لَهُمُ ٱلۡحُسۡنَىٰۚ لَا جَرَمَ أَنَّ لَهُمُ ٱلنَّارَ وَأَنَّهُم مُّفۡرَطُونَ (٦٢) تَٱللَّهِ لَقَدۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَاۤ إِلَىٰۤ أُمَمࣲ مِّن قَبۡلِكَ فَزَیَّنَ لَهُمُ ٱلشَّیۡطَـٰنُ أَعۡمَـٰلَهُمۡ فَهُوَ وَلِیُّهُمُ ٱلۡیَوۡمَ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ أَلِیمࣱ (٦٣) } [سُورَةُ النَّحۡلِ: ٦١-٦٣]

If Allah were to punish men for their wrong-doing, He would not leave, on the (earth), a single living creature: but He gives them respite for a stated Term: When their Term expires, they would not be able to delay (the punishment) for a single hour, just as they would not be able to anticipate it (for a single hour).


They attribute to Allah what they hate (for themselves), and their tongues assert the falsehood that all good things are for themselves: without doubt for them is the Fire, and they will be the first to be hastened on into it!

By Allah, We (also) sent (Our messengers) to Peoples before thee; but Satan made, (to the wicked), their own acts seem alluring: He is also their patron today, but they shall have a most grievous penalty.


16(61,62,63) Quran.

Once the appointed time, which Allah has decreed for each individual, arrives, there can be no delay or hastening.



> {“…they assign to Allah what they themselves dislike…”}
This shows that the polytheists used to attribute to Allah what they found detestable for themselves—such as saying Allah has daughters (like angels), while they themselves disliked having daughters. They also attributed various shortcomings to Allah—exalted is He far above such claims—revealing their corrupt beliefs.



> {“…and their tongues utter the lie that the finest rewards will be theirs…”}
They claimed, despite their disbelief and false worship, that the best fate—like forgiveness or paradise—would be theirs, which is nothing but a baseless lie.



> {“…indisputably, the Fire shall be theirs, and they will be driven on.”}
Their inevitable destiny is the Hellfire, and they will be led swiftly to it, since their evil deeds steer them there.



> {“By Allah, We indeed sent messengers to communities before you, but Satan made their deeds appealing to them…”}
Allah reminds His Prophet (peace be upon him) that this rejection of truth and beautification of misdeeds by Satan is not new; earlier nations also received messengers but still chose to follow Satan’s deceptions.



> {“…so this day he (Satan) is their ally, and they will suffer a painful punishment.”}
Those who allowed themselves to be swayed by Satan, accepting his whispers, now find him as their companion, destined to a severe torment.
