Life Release Activity was successfully held with 45 drums of fish being redeemed and given second chance to live.
Generally, there is no difference in the size or species of the animal to be saved. However, buying and liberating animals that were certainly destined to be killed by butchers in a slaughterhouse naturally brings the greatest benefit.
In terms of their own happiness, sentient beings value nothing greater than their own lives. For this reason, saving lives brings tremendous merit, and has always been a central practice of the Mahayana tradition of Buddhism. It is one of the most beneficial practices one can do, for not only are the animals saved from being slaughtered for food, but we also pray, through our dedications, that they may one day be freed from rebirth in the lower realms.
Led by Palden Nyima Rinpoche, we conclude this Life Release practice with Mipham Rinpoche’s “The Glorious Gift of Longevity and Granting All Desires: A Liturgy for Saving Lives”.
Rejoice to all donors and attendees for their generosity.
Lastly, may the merit of these auspicious prayers be dedicated to all sentient beings.
