Thank you... Awesome review...
ОтветитьThanks for this awesome review! You can tell how much you believe in this guitar with how passionate you are about it! Fantastic, thanks again.
Ответитьgreat review. I've owned both an american custom 24 and recently bought an SE custom 24 and if I close my eyes I honestly can't tell the difference. The american has a much nicer carved top and it looks a bit nicer but the playabilty and sound is just about the same. When you consider I paid 3k for the USA and only 450 for the SE, it's a no brainer. BTW, I also have a Sterling JP100 and it's amazing....and I too can not shred like JP..lol
ОтветитьI'm buying mine now and putting a Stoptail/Tune-O-Matic Bridge and some Bare Knuckle Pickups in it.
ОтветитьGreat job, Steve!! I recently picked up the same model, and am referring friends to your review so I dont have to keep repeating myself. You are spot on and I saw the very same things in my custom.
ОтветитьWOW ! NECK LOOKS REALLY WIDE. YOU SURE ITS NOT A SEVEN STRING ?
ОтветитьThese guitars are great. For anybody doing any style. SE guitars very well may be the best guitars for under $1000
ОтветитьGreat review, +Steve L. I also have both an MIM Strat and a 25th Anniversary PRS SE Custom 24. Both play and sound just as well (if not better) than any of the American versions I've ever played (been playing guitar for 35 years now). I paid $600 for my SE, and $550 for my Strat.
The only customization I've done to either is to put Mighty Mite rails in my Strat (+$60 to the original price). The original pickups sounded fine, but it just wasn't I wanted. The new pickups (licensed by Fender, btw) sound absolutely awesome.
Both are excellent guitars, but I prefer the PRS, as well, for most of the same reasons. I'm thinking about trading in my current PRS for one of the new SE Floyd Custom 24s, though.
You said in an earlier comment, "Price is just an estimation of the assumed quality of the instrument," but I disagree with that. The price is based on what the market will pay, because in many cases people actually believe the hype that American guitars are made better.
I don't know why anyone would pay $4,000 for a guitar, unless it's a completely custom build. I wouldn't even pay $2,000. Even if you have money to burn, it's still a waste of money you could have used on something else.
Hi Steve. Great video!!! I got my PRS about a year ago and the only reason I still need to play my Strat is because of the finish on the back of the PRS neck. My hands sweat a lot and the glossy finish makes playing a bit uncomfortable. How hard is to remove the finish? Could you please give me some tips on how to remove the finish? Thanks.
ОтветитьSuperb video! Thanks for sharing. How easy was it to strip the neck back to natural? I'd be afraid that I'd mess it up. A vid on that process would be cool.
ОтветитьEl Habla mucho conyo...
ОтветитьGreat vid. Been looking at PRS for some time now. I also do have a problem with glossy necks, can you please explain how to safely sand down the neck please?
ОтветитьPerfect video for me! Slash was my first guitar hero when I was 13 and I always wanted to have to be a Les Paul. Now I'm 29 years old and now I love to listen to Dream Theater and John Petrucci also. Next month i will buy a new guitar and i didnt choose anyone between Les Paul and PRS SE Custom 24 until this video, but i know now, (PRS). Thanks for this video brother
ОтветитьNice Video !! I got mine yesterday, played it just around 15 mins and I fell in Love, I ll take it to the studio on monday .....
ОтветитьOpeth actually plays alot of prs American made guitars but still they do play their SE signatures alot. As well Santana, Mike mushok, Zach Myers, Paul allender and Clint Lowery. I think the only guys who don't play their own signature SE guitars is Mark tremonti and Dave Navarro. The SE are great and can take a beating. I would just change the tuners and maybe a the nut.
ОтветитьThanks Man. This review is great and coming from the heart. So unbiased. I just ordered one. Same thing but with a Floyd Rose.
ОтветитьThe guy never play the guitar -1
ОтветитьGot mine a while back as a switch from practice to recording. Similar to yours, buy with a Royal Blue finish. Amazing sound, amazing looks.
ОтветитьDork!
ОтветитьSteve, your video is one of the BEST I have watched for any guitar review and you never played a note which is remarkable:) I just purchased this same guitar from Jon Gillespie at Sweetwater and it's in route! Jon rocks and I recommend him to any guitar players that have questions on anything Sweetwater sells before they buy. I can't wait to get it and play it! I own an American Strat SSS and a Carvin Bolt SSS. I love the single coil sound and my band plays R&B, Funk, Jazz and I like to solo occasionally but I am NOT a shredder (yet) :) The Carvin is a great sounding and looking guitar but I didn't pay attention to the neck radius (12") when I ordered it and it's not as comfortable to play as my Strat (10" Radius). I may sell it later depending on how much I like the PRS. I have never owned a PRS and am curious to see what the Wide/Thin neck feels like. I also have big hands so we will see. Hoping I can get all the tonal variations from the coil tap as you described. Thanks so much man for the video and I'll post my review when I receive my SE Custom 24 next week. Happy Holidays to ya man!
ОтветитьAwesome review bro. You've absolutely sold me on buying a SE model.
ОтветитьThanks for the info But I was hoping to hear you hit a lick or two . . And you didn't mention anything about the sustain on the SE vs the American made custom24 or the S2. But thanks for the info. JKW
ОтветитьGreat review. Covered all the issues I was interested in. I have an earlyish SE Singlecut from 2007, and the quality of that guitar is exceptional. I really like the look of this Custom though....
ОтветитьI am very interested in getting this guitar. I am thinking about getting the 30th anniversary model however I have very small hands and am worried that it will not be comfortable enough for me to play. I use to own a MIM strat but the scale length was too much for me. Hopefully this guitar will be better in every aspect especially playability.
ОтветитьHave you checked out the prs angelus acoustic SE's? I just got one a month ago, and I cant put it down. It sounds, feels and plays great. Don't let the fact that is Korean made fool you. Highly recommend if you play acoustic!
Ответитьsounds like the 2 of you should get a room.......lol......sorry bud.......just bought 1, it is a nice guitar
ОтветитьThat was a really nice video. No other demo/review I watched got into such personal details, that was actually helpful for me to make up my mind, in a way, thank you. Subscribed.
As you have experience with other guitars and you own this beauty, I'd like to know your opinion on this model in comparison to the 22 frets model. Have you ever played one, before? If so, what did you personally think about it? Does it have any difference in tone or in neck feel? You see, I'm a bluesy guitarrist by nature, but I'm working on some shreddy fusion stuff and I'm looking for a nice 24 fret guitar for any crazy things I need and a decent tremolo for those nice slide-like blues licks. Do you think getting a Custom 24 is a better deal than an 22?
Again, thank you for this nice video. Sorry for all the questions, but I hope you can answer them.
Keep rocking!
Great balanced review. The SE models are great and are the gems of the PRS line. I just bought a CRE 24 and is a great guitar. The SE's are very nice but suffer from the Fender japan models. They are just was good but building that brand image is hard.
ОтветитьHey Brother nice video.... I've been looking at that same guitar and I think I'm going ahead and getting it. Funny that you said in this video that your also looking to get the PRS semi hollow body one in that tempest green, because I actually have that one now. it's really beautiful in person man... a must get!
ОтветитьGood video. I love PRS SE models. I have a custom 24 SE too. Just a quick comment about your point regarding not wanting signature models. The Gibson Les Paul is technically a signature model, but many players have one. A good guitar is a good guitar whether it's a standard model or a signature model like a Pertucci, an EVH or whatever. A good instrument is a good instrument. Just my opinion.
ОтветитьDon't apologize for the lack of light bro, It looks like film. I'm a video guy and I HATE it when people unnecessarily flood scenes with to much light
ОтветитьYou don't like signature models but you own "Les Pauls"...still chuckling
ОтветитьI love my 2016 cherry burst model. Great idea about sanding down the neck and making it satiny. I don't like the painted neck as well and will likely follow in your footsteps on this modification.
ОтветитьI pick up a new PRS SE 30th Anniversary Custom 24 this past week and love it. It has the Pickups with Coil Split.
ОтветитьA guitar review with ZERO sounds is WORTHLESS. Americans T-A-L-K SOOO much !! Put a brief down in writing + PLAY SOMETHING !!
ОтветитьDid you never have tuning issues with your les pauls?...I'm saying this because I did...to the point where I just sold them. It's not that I didn't find them beautiful but they were not practical.
ОтветитьI have the same model and color. Like you I research things to death before I buy. The local music store had some PRS rep's at their store on night doing demo's and they also had a sale going for that night (which also helped). I heard one of the PRS rep's play the SE custom 24 and, well the rest is history. Love it!! Later down the road I might put locking tuners on, but that's about it!! Great video, best I've seen yet on this model. Everyone else has to over drive it when they are playing it, this was a great change. Totally enjoyed watching!!
ОтветитьJust found out my local music store JUST started carrying the PRS SE line!
Was already sold on the SE Custom 24 and was just watching videos of it until I buy one. This video was the most sincere and passionate one I've seen yet!
Thanks for sharing, Steve!
you literally just sold me this guitar, i want one for christmas
ОтветитьGreat heartfelt review! Extremely refreshing. PRS all the way!!
ОтветитьNice honest assessment. I know who opeth are but didn’t realize they only use SEs. You sold me on it!
ОтветитьAfter listening to you, why do I read people basking the tuners and the bridge?
Ответитьits not zero tuning problems its almost zero tuning problems im using it
ОтветитьPRS jams bro!
ОтветитьI want that guitar or 1 like it!
ОтветитьI think if i own a charvel i will have a stigma that OH ITS ONLY A CHARVEL 😊😊😊
