- arrangement
- order matters, i.e., A, B ≠ B, A

• Combination:
- selection/choice
- order doesn't matter, ie, A, B = B, A

This helped so much!! I always struggled at how to determine what formulas to use because I couldn't discover the difference between permutations and combinations. Overall, I was confused at what counted as a problem where order does or doesn't matter. Thank You!

If anyone is confused with the school board questions. The first one is combination because it said "3 people" which is to say ANY 3 from the 8 will do. The next one says "3 DIFFERENT responsibilities" which is to say it matters which 3 from the 8 gets which unique responsibility. Essentially for these problems pay attention to wording.
