Third-rate boxer, Jimmy Conley (Tom Neal), finds his life turned upside down when he meets with sudden success in the ring when his sleazy manager spreads the word that Jimmy can put the "evil eye" on opponents, thereby earning him the name, "Kid Hex." Unknown to him, his fights are "fixed" in advance.
