SIMPLY SMART is a community service initiative of the Knoxville TVA Employees Credit Union Foundation for Education. Created in 2010, the Foundation reflects the Credit Union's core philosophy of "People Helping People." Quality education is key to a successful future in a constantly changing society and competitive marketplace and together, we can enhance the lives of our area young people and the quality of our communities.

The Foundation is funded by donations from the community, by the Knoxville TVA Employees Credit Union, which makes financial contributions and covers administrative costs, and by the Credit Union members and employees. Thus, 100% of money donated to the Foundation will support educational programs.

SIMPLY SMART initiatives give young people in our communities new opportunities to advance their education and to gain life-long skills in personal financial management, helping them become active, responsible community members. We offer:

* Scholarships for qualified public high school graduates in our service area. One scholarship will be given to every public high school in Blount, Hamblen, Jefferson, Knox, Loudon, Roane, Sevier and Sullivan Counties, as well as Johnson City. Unlike many scholarships, which consider only academic achievement or financial need, the SIMPLY SMART scholarship seeks well-rounded students with a strong desire to learn who have contributed to their communities and might be excluded from traditional programs. SIMPLY SMART scholarships can be applied to in-state or out-of-state two- or four-year public or private colleges or universities, as well as trade schools and continuing education programs.
* Financial literacy courses offered free to public high schools in our service area. Taught by skilled educators and based on a nationally recognized curriculum, this 180 minute hands-on program (typically delivered in two, 90 minute sessions) fulfills the Tennessee state graduation requirement of a half credit course in personal finance.
