I have a few of these as well as several battery operated Tuya zigbee PIR+mmWave+light sensors, and I much prefer the Tuya. And they’ve been around longer than ThirdReality so I’m not sure why you titled this the “FIRST”

I feel Aqara FP1E is not always with mmWave as well, If I stay very still for a long period of time, it failed to detect my presence.

I've been using tuya 204's in bathrooms and closets for the last year. They are PIR and mmWave, works great in HA using Zigbee2MQTT.

Thank you for the updated good to know. If it works through walls do you know would it also work through shower screen / doors? I’m currently using 2 hue sensors in my bathroom, one for the room and the other for behind the shower door.

At $30 the 3rd Reality bridge looks like a decent Zigbee bridge (since my Aqara camera hub won’t give me that).

I’m waiting for presence sensor wireless battery. I can’t wait for the Aqara fp300. What about the light switch presence sensor I saw one on the CES event not release yet?

Any comments on radius of coverage? I mean for usual motion sensors that have curved surface cover a semicircle kind of area. What about this one given that it is square shaped?

Is there a difference between motion sensors and presence sensor

Can you possibly share what your automation setup is in HomeKit with this? I just bought it after seeing your video, already have the hub.

Not a single one "presence sensor" I own, even with higher frequency than 5.8 detect me lying still on my bed or sitting motionless on a comode.
They claim to be able to detect breathing, but I am yet to see them do it. 🤷🏼‍♂️

I think you probably meant battery-powered, not “wireless,” since all radio powered home automation devices are considered wireless technology.

Anyway…

The aqara FP 300 is a battery powered MM wave sensor that has been announced, but not yet available for sale. That one will probably be worth waiting for as it has a lot more features.

In addition, Tuya has had a battery powered MM wave sensor out for over a year which is sold under a number of different brand names.

What is the point of releasing a mmwave sensor if its not a present sensor?
and it's even not over thread

A good sensor for the bathroom. I like that it will be able to sense movement through the shower curtain and keep the lights on. 👍

Just hold off and wait for the Aqara FP300.

Battery powered, mm wave and presence sensor 😊

Do you think or know if it would work with Aqara M2 Hub?

The R1 uses a different wave length than other presence sensor which is why, I suspect, that it does not detect presence. I have also found that the sensitivity adjustments did not change the sensor's response much except from setting 1 to 2, but that could be a function of the size of space I have it in (laundry closet hall). The ability to see through doors that are potentially opened in front of it is great, but when the hall lights go out when my wife is standing relatively still in front of the washer/dryer is not so great. Sort of solved the problem by adding a 2-minute wait before turning off the lights with the hope that motion will again be detected which seems to have worked. Waiting to see if Aqara can do better.

I wonder how this will stack up against the Aqara FP300 that was announced at CES; should be released late 2025.

These sensors , in some setups, can cause interference to each other if they are in proximity like you showed in video. This also could be causing problems with detection of static person.

Oh well, I’ve thought the same thing about millimeterwave making it a presence sensor. I’m glad though that they are not advertising it as such. They are calling it a motion sensor, and that’s what it is. So good for them for not false advertising.

The key to remember is this is a MOTION and not an occupancy or presence sensor. This will clear if you are just sitting in front of it like any PIR motion sensor. This sensor will also work with IKEA's dirigibilityboo bridge.

For battery life, wonder what the duty cycle is like. Say, how often is it detecting something with main sensor. It is safe to assume that high levels of motion may reduce battery life.

Oh cool, you get the slowness of detection from mmw and and motionless (no)detection from PIR. Lol worst of both worlds.
