I remember that graph. The Intel SSD had a "feature" that would basically kill itself as soon as it detected just one bad sector! Its a bit like stubbing your tow and then giving up on life and blowing your brains out. Nice one intel - I wonder how many people got caught out by that!

I know that i am 2 year off the release of the video but i cannot find the information anywhere.

I have a laptop and my ssd has health of 92% but when playing demanding games it reaches 66 degrees celcius, the operating temp are max 70.
Should i be worried ? or as long as i am in the range it should be operating fine ?

In truth Hard Drives will always be better than SSDs as Hard Drives don't fail as easily

me thinks that bad/ corrupt sectors are introduced by company,... computer/ update patches,... in the name of hardware scans,.. later on i found more bad sectors,.. which were previously not there,..before,... suddenly our ,RAM, HDD, BATTERY,.. etc starts dying after free scans by lenovo,. hp,... etc,.. immediately after warranty,... our refusal of their company extended warranty

I don't know who coined the abbreviation TBW, and there doesn't seem to be a consensus in what it sands for. I've seen both "Total Bytes Written" and "Terabytes Written".

IMO, "Total Bytes Written" makes more sense, as some datasheets will say things like TBW: 600TB, meaning the Total Bytes Written is 600 Terabytes. Enterprise grade SSDs will say things like TBW: 8.4PB, meaning the Total Bytes Written is 8.4 Petabytes, or 8400 Terabytes.

After some asking ChatGPT cause Crystaldisk for some reason shows me having written 300TB on the 240gb ssd with a tbw of 84. Chatgpt says my drive only actually written 1~ TB over 1 year of runtime. Idk why this happens, but GPT formula is 263,836 x 4KB/LBAs / 1024 / 1024 / 1204.

I tried looking into the CrystalMark software but the download page was too confusing. When I clicked Download it kept sending me to the download page for the system checker rather than the SSD checker. Also it only lists XP and Vista editions of its software. All that considered, I didn't bother.

I still use a 600GB WD Velociraptor as a backup to my SSD and my NVME SSD,
I know the drive is close to death. But this thing is definitely a beast. Almost 15 years, and only until recently it has started showing Caution Signs. WD definitely made the Velociraptors into truly some of the most resistant regular hard drives ever.
Luckily i have backups for it.
I really wanna see it go until the end, this Hard Drive has travelled with me through all my upgrades.

"SSDs have higher reliability in general than harddrives..."
Wut? As long as you handle the harddrives reasonably carefully, and don't have any IBM "DeathStar" disks, the opposite is true. As demonstrated by the very topic of this video, for one. While the typical HDD enjoyer can't even fathom how a "GB/s" number can be real without a decimal point in front of it, it laughs in the face of ludicrous things like "TBW".

TLC has acquired a bad reputation in the past. Nothing fundamentally wrong but but it just doesn't last as long as SLC or MLC. So Samsung calls their TLC drives 3-bit MLC. Not sure if others are doing the same but keep this in mind when reading spec sheets. That said, my own Samsung 850 Pro (MLC) which is being used extremly hard for like 10 years is holding up very well and similar for a far less used but even older Intel X18-M/X25-M/X25-V G2 80GB MLC SSD. So clearly the fear of burning through a drive's "write life" is irrational for most uses and modern TLC probably lives as long as MLC of these eh.. classic SSD drives.

SSD not showing after a scan and repair on Call of duty

So this has never happened to me before and my PC is a year old... I was playing a game of COD and so my game freezes.. goes into a scan and repair then after I go into battle net to play again but the game is asking for an update. as soon as i press update it goes straight into and error so I thought hmmmm... so I restarted PC. PC finished restarting and I log onto battle net once again but now its asking me to install the game but how could that be when the game was just downloading and working a few minutes ago? So I press install and looks like my install cant find my G drive (where I store all of my games) and so I was confused. I go into File Explorer and my G drive/SSD isnt there. I tried looking online for any fixes and I went into my disk manager and it isnt popping up... I also rescanned for disks and nothing.

I hope that I am not fucked here and there is a fix. tried speaking to some friends and they also dont have any solutions to this. Hopefully nothing is fried and its an easy fix and we are good to go.

PC Specs:

AMD Ryzen 7700X

Motherboard PRO B650-P WIFI MS-7D78

Nvidia RTX 3080

2 1TB SSD (one is the one we cant find)

You should not be worried about to write (use) your ssd to much, the lifespan or write limit is very high. Ssd's are very durable.

My first-ever SSD was a Samsung 850 EVO that I got back in Christmas 2014 as a gift to upgrade my laptop. Never before had I seen boot speeds so fast! I still have the drive and it still works great. Not using it as my main drive anymore, but for transferring/storing large files portably, it's very useful.

Write Cycle Durability is an estimate. There are people more than tripling the estimate and still getting full usage out of their SSDs. Essentially, the "limitation" is less an accurate portrayal of health and more an estimate to help companies draw up warranties and encourage fresh sales.
