Casino bartender here. I work at the MGM Grand in Vegas and we do see this a lot in our industry. The best advice I can give anybody is if you have to get up from your chair for any reason you might want to ask the other patrons around you to watch your machine. That's the only way you're going to get to keep your chair. because once you get up your chair is now free game to anybody who walks by, and that's even if you have money inside the machine (Which I would never recommend by the way) if you get up and go to the bathroom cash out and take your money with you.

I agree, the machine is only "yours" while you are using it, when on walk away it's,no longer "yours".
Not being a Casino (or cruise) person, what are these "player cards" you refer to?

No reserving either a machine in the casino or a chair by the pool. If you aren't in it, its open to use.

Walk away means you are done. There’s no holding allowed.

I've seen people ask the person next to them to save the machine and also people lean the seat on the machine while getting more money or going to the restroom I think both of those are ok but just leaving is just that you left

No issue because you can add money while sitting at the machine... this is a word salad issue...

We live in Vegas so playing on our cruises is minimal.

An empty seat is fair game. I don’t think anyone should be allowed to hold a seat when others want to play.

I'm so very glad that I don't gamble under any circumstances. The cruise line is going to lose money on my vacation.

It is real easy. If you can't play a machine that is not in use, then the first player was in the wrong, wasn't she? Second, if you put the money in you you get to keep the all the winnings, otherwise nobody would play. What's the problem?

They have the ability to charge through your Seapass for a reason! You leave you give up the machine. My partner jumped on a machine that a couple were playing and they left for dinner or whatever, two spins at $.088 and he won the 9k Grand.

Honestly, each spin of the reels are independent event, that machine don't care what you put in previously. So there is no Entitlement of the Seas if someone wins after you leave.

If I need a break from a machine. I call a slot employee or place my chair in an angle lending on that machine. Third, I asked someone near to watch my machine and I'll return. No one can read your mind.

Unoccupied gaming seats should be clearly marked as available through prominently displayed rules and signage, ensuring efficient table usage for all players.

I have never gambled on a cruise ship. I know I can't afford to lose even $20. My 93 year old mom takes me on 2 cruises per year on Celebrity and I am so grateful just to be able to cruise. I do believe however that if you walk away from your place and someone else sits down to play then they are the winners. I can't imagine hoy frustrating it must be for the person who just got up and then lost it all.

I don't see the problem, you can easily charge your room so there is NO need to leave the machine.

I have been asked to watch machines when people got up, a few times all was fine, but a couple of times I stated that the machine was taken and the persons trying to sit started to argue with me, so I just shut up and I’ll never do it again. I’m not the slot machine police.

I have only ever seen fights on Carnival. never on virgin

I ask a casino attendant to hold my spot. They happily do so. ( Tip them )
But if the seat is empty it is an open machine to play at.

No. If you get up and leave the machine. You are no longer playing on that machine. Leaving your card in the machine does not hold that seat for you. People can not hold a seat at a slot machine. That's just the way it is. I always bring enough money before I sit down to play anything.

I think most casinos will have someone watch your machine if you gotta go to the bathroom I assume that would be the same thing if you want torun to the ATM machine and come right back

The man was definitely wrong. In the woman's scenario, she had options. She could have asked the person next to her to hold the machine for her, or she could have tilted the chair, which is kind of a universal sign that someone is using the machine and has the intention of returning. But, since she didn't, she was also i. The wrong.

The casino rules state if you leave the machine you’re playing for any reason it is now an available machine if you are going to leave your machine you can request a slot floor person to watch your machine for a short time.

And a card does not save the machine. If you walk away and leave the seat empty it’s an open available machine!!!

I will also say if you tip your chair in Vegas the chair will be placed back in the normal position. There are absolutely no saving machines in casinos period

What I see happening a lot is people sitting in the chairs in front of the machine while someone else goes and gets money. And I agree if you get up and leave a machine that's just the way it is

It's like parking spots in front of one's house. Anyone can park there as long as they don't block the driveway. You own your house, not the street in front of the house.

I’ve seen this a lot. I’ve been asked by someone that leaves their card in machine with money loaded and say they are going to the bathroom and asked me to let others know. When the casino is crowded people get really upset about this. I let people know and haven’t seen resistance however they do hover to see if the person comes back.

Yes- empty seat, not playing is free for all- even if your friend/partner says, she/he went to the bathroom/ too bad. They can always take over and play it- cash not an excuse being you can get room credit. My pet peeve is about the shows- people come very late, talk and start putting their phone in your face to record - one had her flash on her phone behind us- literally blinded us and husband said “Chill out”

There are a lot of ways to hold a machine while you go somewhere. 1) Ask someone next to you to hold it while you are gone. 2) Lean the seat up against the machine. 3) Use your Sea Pass card to charge more money to your room instead of going to the ATM and paying a fee. Leaving your card in the machine, as you said, is done by accident all the time. That is not enough to save a machine. She left basically zero indication that she was returning. Now her friend should have let her have the machine back just for being a friend but that is a different conversation.

you talk too much giving back ground and your experience input, just infro the clip and then show the clip nad enough with all the play-by-play, kill your all inclusive talking only and so clips to support your site viewing.

When you leave a machine whatever happens a winning or loss to the next gambler belongs to that person. How anyone can ask for a compensation for a previous use on a casino machine 😂😂😂

Comes to mind the old saying… Shuffle your feet, lose your seat. No, the people that left the seat are not entitled to the winnings. If that was the case, I would leave my card in a machine of my choosing, go grab some dinner, then come back and see what I may have won. Personally, I never go back to the same machine the same day because I don’t want to see what I missed out on! Ugh!! As far as the rules being posted, ABSOLUTELY not! Use common sense people! We cruise RCL regularly on casino offers. I agree with you that once the original player has left the machine and did not leave money in it, or ask someone to watch it for them for a minute, whoever swoops in and starts playing did nothing wrong. HOWEVER, if the person playing before was my friend and I wanted to play it, I would probably have asked if she would have a problem if I played on the machine now that she was done with it. Not because I think it would be wrong, but just because I think it is a nice gesture and if I hit something I would not want drama with a friend. If it was a stranger, I would not think twice.

This would never happen but maybe design into the slot machine a way to HOLD the machine for up to 5 minutes using a password code
