Though Monte seems to think it is taking place in the 1950s... All the pre war stuff is basically between 2050 and 2077 when the bombs fall. It feels like 1950s because in the Fallout world they pushed all the nuclear technologies way before discovering microprocessors. Which explains large TVs with vacuum tubes in 2070.

Bombs drop in 2077. It's not the 1950s, it's a retro future Esthetic. Love the podcast keep it going.

I dont agree with the Maximus - Anna Sawai comparison. Everything I have seen from the actor playing Maximus makes me think he just is boring and not great at acting. He is very very flat in all the promotional stuff I have seen for Fallout as well. I am not at all convinced that if the character was written better he would have been all that much better in the show. I also did not find Lucy a boring character. She sort of is, but I personally found the situations she is put into very entertaining precisely because she is the somewhat naive inexperienced girl with a firm belief in her own morals.

Maximus' character AND actor are both garbage. I do not understand how someone in real life made the decisions for that character. I made note of it 5 minutes into the second episode to the misses. He makes no sense and almost ruined the show for me. Please don't Star Wars my Fallout any further.

Goggins was absolutely fantastic in this show, easily my favourite part, the range and how he makes small changes his mannerisms was excellent, extremely underrated actor.

Long time fallout guy speaking here. I thought it was very interesting how “The Last of Us” show was basically a direct copy of the video game storyline, where as “The Fallout” show had absolutely no connection to the Fallout games storyline. Both were great though 👍

Lucys character is like a maxed out Luck build with some charisma leftover and agility leftover.

Great watch, convinced me to check out the show despite my reluctance to watch video game adaptions.

Going into season 2 I think Maximus has the potential to be one of the most interesting characters in the show. He wants nothing but the status and power that comes from being a knight and when the opportunity presented itself he let Titus die, stole his armour and immediately started power tripping. This same character is now put in a position where he will be a leader of Quintus' new brotherhood. A brotherhood that by default is one of the most powerful factions in the region now that they have the cold fusion mcguffin. Max showed at every opportunity that he cant handle power and hes been ruthless in his pursuit of it, he was straight up going to kill Thaddeus to preserve the lie. I feel like there's a lot of potential there for good writing. Hopefully the stick the landing.

As a Fallout fan from playing them since Fallout 1 and knowing what the real lore and history of what the West Coast was built up to be and now watching this TV show it's very clear that Bethesda used this show to completely retcon the setting and give a visual presentation of what they wanted people to think the West Coast is instead of what it really was.

In F1 and 2, the West Coast was run by the New California Republic. This is a Nation that ran half of former California. There were multiple cities. It was a fully recovered society and was really a Post-Post Apocalyptic setting.

When Bethesda took over they moved to the East Coast to create the Fallout world in the image and completely ignored everything in the history of Fallout Classic.

This TV show is B.S. If you only now Bethesda Studios Fallout than you are watching Bethesda Fallout but the West Coast they give us is a full retcon.

The Maximus character is the ultimate fail forward character. He does NOTHING to earn anything and yet always get promoted.

He starts getting beat up for no reason, another trainee becomes squire. That person gets injured and Max gets promoted.

In first mission, the knight he is wyis ultra stupid, gets injured, Max steals the armor.

Max gets a squire, who then later takes the power core and then somehow in the middle of the world Lucy finds him and releases him.

Later he drinks the Vault 4 Kool aid... Okay that part was actually funny.

Then he goes back to the Brotherhood of Steel, who finds out he stole the armor, didn't succeed in his mission, and basically lied and YET instead of punishing him he gets another chance to not only help but gets a damn promotion.

He doesn't kill the rebel leader, and YET he gets ANOTHER PROMOTION and at the end of the season becomes second in command of the BoS.

This is the most incompetent character in the history of television and constantly gets 'promotions.'

Its horrible story writing.

This show nails Bethesda Fallout. If you like Bethesda storytelling, you'll like the show. If you have any kind of taste for anything like good storytelling and don't even try to look at the plot below the surface of the Oohs and Ahhs Fallout highlights than it's clear this show just sucks.

Fallout New Vegas was a continuation of Fallout Classic and has nothing to do with Bethesda Fallout.

The show was better than I expected but it wasn't great. If you want a really brutal review of all the plot holes and nonsense check out the video by Mauler.

I agree more with Doa about the characters

I was a bit disappointed that we didn't find out anything more about Moldaver. How did she survive so long? What exactly did she do during that time? It was a bit weird that she was built up as so important,and then she just... dies?

It doesn't matter whether you intentionally or unintentionally shit your pants. At the end of the day, you still have shit in your pants.

This is a terrible adaptation. Lots of easter eggs and nods to the games but the story is just so bad and the characters have no development.

Anyone notice Lucy’s brother looks like a smaller version of monte 😂
