It concerns me when the headlights make the short list of significant characteristics. If you're mowing in the dark, you're doing something wrong.

Go to John Deere dealer and look at X series. Stay away from home depot. The cub and JD at box stores share the same exact cheap transmission. The trans is the weak point. Cannot handle heavy work without burning up the hydro. They are use and throw away tractors...both of them

I've had the cub cadet for 5 years now mowing 2 acres a week for about 9 months a year. I can share real world experience... In 5 years I've had to change the belt twice, battery twice, blades once, and spindles once. I do yearly engine oil and fuel/air filters and engine still runs like new with no leaks or smoke. The cub is a solid choice and I would buy again.

Ah, the HECK with these newer tractors! Their ALL junk! They all are designed to break completely down within 5 years after you buy them. I have a Cub Cadet tractor, a International Harvester Cub Cadet tractor 982, with a 50 inch mower deck, and it's STILL going to this day. Also, have a 1973 and 1974 Power King tractors one used for plowing snow and landscaping the other for mowing the grass, and they to, are still going with good ole Kohler engines in them. Go Figure.

I used to have the cheap Lowes grade JD 42" tractor, the deck welds broke off making the tractor a danger! I now have the JD X300 48"..had to remove the pulley guards as they get clogged with grass, and added a shock absorbing seat because the stock seat is awful. Also the deck flushing attachment is a joke...just makes the grass clippings wet. Just pull the tractor up on ramps and scrape with a BBQ grill brush after cutting. Other than that it's reliable and starts when I want it to.

For salvation, we just need to follow the way they did it in Acts? They were baptized in water for the removal of sins and filled with the Holy Ghost. Here's why! The gospel is the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:1-4.
If we are to follow him, we must do the same thing. Death= repentance, Burial = baptism, and resurrection = being filled and rising again from the dead. That's what Acts 2:38 is.
We must obey the gospel, 2 Thessalonians 1:8-9, in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that OBEY NOT THE GOSPEL of our Lord Jesus Christ... Matthew 7:21-23, Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that DOETH THE WILL OF MY FATHER which is in Heaven. St John 3:3-5, EXCEPT a man, be born of WATER AND OF THE SPIRIT, he cannot enter into the kingdom of GOD.
We can't come up with our own gospel. Galatians 1:6-9, But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. Don't be cursed.
One way for all people. Jews, Gentiles, and Samaritans. Our salvation has to match up with the scriptures and no scriptures on the subject can be taken away. Eternity is TOOO long to be WRONG! st, John 5:39, Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
The gospels show what Christ has done on the cross for us.
The book of Acts shows us the beginning of Christ's Church and how to enter the Church, obeying Acts 2:38.
The letters were written to the Church to show us how to behave now that we are born again into the Church.
It's better to walk alone than to walk with a crowd going in the wrong direction.
Are we supposed to follow the teachings of the apostles? Acts 2:42, And they continued steadfastly in the apostle's doctrines. Ephesians 2:20, We are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone.
Don't get Titus 3:5 mixed up with James 2:14-26, about WORKS. One is a WORK of your OWN RIGHTEOUSNESS OR GOOD DEEDS and the other is a WORK OF FAITH OR OBEDIENCE TO GOD. One is letting you know that there are no Works we could have done to make Christ want to die on the cross for us. Romans 5:8, But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
The other is about believing and being obedient to God because you believe. Faith without WORKS OR OBEYING GOD IS DEAD. James 2:14-26.
Noah believed and then OBEYED OR WENT TO WORK BUILDING THE ARK.
Now that Christ already paid the full price for our salvation we have to attain it by obeying his way to receive it, Acts 2:38! There is no sinner's prayer. Nowhere in the bible in this church age does it state to accept the Lord Jesus as your savior and you are saved. Mark 16:16, he that believes and is baptized shall be saved.
FAITH WITHOUT OBEDIENCE TO GOD WILL BE IN VAIN. God bless you!

My name is Tim Baker. I worked at the John Deere testing facility here in Bradenton for 5 years. The one thing that I learned about grass clippings is when the grass is wet it tends to clump more than dry grass. If the lawn has water sprinklers and then you mow yes you will clump the grass. Under dry conditions in with the proper blade deck height it will spread your grass evenly without clumping. Second secret keeping your blades sharp at all times.

I heard in 1991 that the JD 318 was quite good and hydrostatic which was a little new for a garden tractor. I found a 1987 model and bought it for $3200 , at auction. There was one other person who wanted it, so I thought that I overpaid at the time. It is still going strong with an Onan engine. Routine maintenance and kept in the garage.

In 2009 I purchased a new Sears Craftsman DYS 4500 lawn tractor with 27hp Briggs Stratton V-twin engine 42 inch deck, 6 sp automatic. I currently have 1008 hours on the engine and no engine problems what so ever. However, I replace the regular spark plugs with iridium plugs in the engine. That engine starts right upon the second or third revolution without using the choke. I also burn premium gasoline as my fuel. The area I have to mow is roughly 4.2 acres. The mower is so well taken care of that it looks new. The oil is changed frequently. The hour meter has a little oil change blinker in it to remind of changing the oil. I keep spare parts for the deck...idlers, v-groove pulleys, belts, spindles, blades, even the idlers under neath the mower that drives the belt etc. Now, I have gone through 2 hydro-static trannys. They don't seem to last too long. There is a steep slope that I have to negotiate. The mower can climb that slope easily, no question. The rear wheels "dig in" when climbing. But when the mower struggles trying to climb that slope, that is when I know to remove the tranny(6 bolts), and change the oil. I remove the tranny, remove the hex head plug and turn it upside down over a 5 gallon bucket and allow it to drain fully empty until I see no oil dripping for one week. I know the oil level so I refill it, install the plug, put it back in the mower and purge it. Then she is ready to go again. I observe it's performance closely. Now I do have another brand new tranny still in the box and I will not install it in the mower until it needs it. I know someone who HAD three zero turns, and now he does not have them anymore. So I know I have a good machine. It's a machine and you have to take very good care of it. I don't have $2000 bucks to shell out for another mower and as long as I can do the maintenance, she will last. Thank you.

Don’t buy anything with either an Intek or a Kohler Courage if you can avoid it. Both are horribly flawed engines that are ripe for failure. Head gaskets and compression releases go at very low hours on the Inteks and the Top Cover bolts will back out on the Courage and crack the crankcase unless you retorque them at least once a year.

After being a grounds keeper for a local school district, a couple of things to pass on is. You want a tall or deep deck. Those shallow top to bottom decks will clump grass far more. That extra area allows more air flow and seems to disperse the clippings much better giving you a much nicer finished result. And after running two pedal John Deere Hydros and Kubota treadle pedal, I will have to vote for the JD two pedal every time. so much more comfortable to use. The heel of your foot never moves you simply pivot left or right and press to go forward or reverse. Many eight- hour days on both.
