Our Chinese wedding in Malaysia is almost similar, minus the games.

Many North American Chinese weddings (at least with Cantonese/Toishanese heritage) are sometimes more elaborate . The process of going to the bride’s family is similar - with the red envelopes and games. However, after successfully “procuring” the bride, a western church wedding is conducted (actual civil ceremony with a presiding religious clergy person) in western gear. After the formal church ceremony, the wedding returns back to Chinese tradition with a huge Chinese multi-course banquet. The banquet is held in a large restaurant (usually Cantonese) in which the bride switches to a traditional Chinese dress; the groom might stay in western attire or to a Chinese outfit. It is also during the banquet, when the games between the groom and bride become raunchier depending how “nice” the friends and family members are; alcohol is definitely free flowing. On the following day, the tea ceremony is held. BTW, the groom side pays for everything (with the exception of bridesmaids’ dresses).

Growing up in a Chinese family in SE Asia, we had modified traditions. However, when I attended a Chinese wedding in New York City, the "teasing" of the new wed occurred at the reception hall.
