Build your forms on a frame which keeps it flat. Curving was always going to happen when you poured basically on a sheet.😊
ОтветитьI wonder if you took black tails course on epoxy tables. Some techniques here feel like that. I can’t stand epoxy crap, but I had to learn it at least for void filling but no rivers.
ОтветитьThey came out absolutely fantastic! If I had $16k to drop on some doors, you’d be my first phone call, Brother! ❤❤❤
ОтветитьHow do you find clients?
ОтветитьJust a question: Do these doors have soft close? Do you have something in between them to stop the doors from bouncing and scratching each other when they're closed?
ОтветитьAbsolutely beautiful! I dream of the day I can do one for my own house.
ОтветитьCongratulations on a job well done! That's not unusual in your case. Anyway they're gorgeous 😀😀
ОтветитьI had a random thought that you could angle both inside edges of the doors where they meet so that they slightly overlap and no light will come through
ОтветитьCongrats on your first commission! May you get many more!
ОтветитьHe remind me of the L.A Beast
ОтветитьWow this turned out amazing. The black on black would’ve been great too so hopefully we get to see that in a future project hehe.
Ответить$16,000? am i the only one seeing the 1000% profit margin on these tables? Looks outstanding! but i have seen 4 - 6k resin wood tables look just as good. im not sure why this is $16k worth. maybe the labor? but then how much are you charging per hour for labor? master electrician , my buddy, gets around 200 an hour..... great product but holy crap is it overpriced.
ОтветитьSounds like theft to me 😂 must be 12k profit
ОтветитьThey really are beautiful doors. These will be the first of many commissions I'm sure!
ОтветитьI would have suggested the necessary wire rope to make the doors open symmetrically, plus a magnetic catch to hold them closed.
ОтветитьThe doors turned out absolutely stunning! 🙌🙌
ОтветитьNice work! But if were me delivering doors w/ (super nervous) Mike, I'd have made HIM (Mike) drive! haha
ОтветитьBlack and gold would have been good to, I know you always show any errors or potential errors, did you have any thought of not doing it this time and not showing the parts where you didn't agree with client or not sharing everything knowing they would watch
ОтветитьOh damn, that translucency turned out really well! It's subtle but it's there, and it looks lovely.
ОтветитьCongrats, you deserve it!
ОтветитьGreat work! Note: if you pick up metal C channel, Place painters tap along the long narrow sides, lay it across the wood, clap them in place against your wood to your table, it will keep the boards from warping when gluing or epoxying. The Painters tap will come off and the C Channel will be easier to pry off. Do some tests, until you feel comfortable with the technique.
All the best, Congratulations on your first commission!
congrats on your first commission! looks great. What grit did you sand up to and did you water pop at any of the grits?
ОтветитьWheres the sunlight/back-lit shot? Thats a let down, considering that it was a main feature of its design.
ОтветитьTry best plans for woodworkers. WoodPrix.
ОтветитьPersonal opinion:
You sealed the wood before pouring, something I would never do, as it prohibits proper adhesion between parts. It’s like 2K spraying a car without sanding etc.
The other thing is, I personally don’t really like content creators, that make money 3 times off of a video (Customer, Adsense, Sponsor), especially when it’s supplements, which can be viewed critically.
But that’s just my personal opinion.
Nonetheless best wishes!
Fantastic build! Turned out really great!
ОтветитьNice work
ОтветитьDude, you never disappoint. The only thing I’m sad about is there wasn’t a Caulk Talk 😢
ОтветитьCongrats! look very stressful though, but I guess it's hence by the first time factor. I love the whole door, and the show in between. I'll start looking for the slab in a bit... 😅
Ответитьwhat a pleasure watching this. really helpful you being sooo reaaaal. appreciate that as i'm just beginning my foray into doing this stuff. have afew tables under my belt but haven't sold one yet. can i ask what grits did you sand epoxy to and how to you clean and buff epoxy after oiling? thanks again
ОтветитьThat was just the first, I’m sure there will be more! Excellent work!
ОтветитьI WISH I could afford your services. Those look amazing.
ОтветитьCurious why you use The Shaper versus your AVID for the door machining. Thanks for a great video.
ОтветитьLooks like you got the $15,000 you mentioned early in the home renovation series back! XD
Congratulations! That's big time moving that much money but you DEFINITEY earned it. your videos are genuine, you rebuilt a whole house pretty much on your own (no studios sponsering you, no stupid scripts, no pretending it's your house when it's really not.... it was literally YOUR home and we knew it was all authentic) and you deserve the kudos! Here's to more great projects coming your way!
i want to be 16k door rich
ОтветитьQuestion, what keeps both barn doors from moving left and right while brought together/closed?
ОтветитьLMNT just tastes like salt water with flavor
ОтветитьNice work! That is one spectacularly pretty slab of maple 😀
ОтветитьNo caulk talk? :O
Ответитьwtf who still want this sh lmao
ОтветитьYou should just buy a van if you keep making doors like this
ОтветитьNice build guy,. big price, you killed it.
ОтветитьGorgeous!
ОтветитьWow Mike!
Impressive video.
As the Designer on the project, i have to say it was one of the most seamless, pleasurable experiences ive had in my 35 years of designing homes.
Your professionalism is stellar. I’ve read the comments and saw so many complaining about cost. I laugh, as the cost definitely met with the details it took to achieve such an awesome piece of art. To date, your work is one of the most commented on in the space.
I cant wait for the next project.
Thank you for an awesome experience working with you.
16k hmm that's a lot of cash for some fancy looking wood I'm in the wrong business
ОтветитьNo closed finish shot? ☹️
Ответитьthe labor … regardless of the wood …. $$$$ a little pricey!
ОтветитьSurprised you didn't make them a test piece for the light transmission.
Ответить
