Known for his slick daddy poisonous Ethiopian caterpillar that found its way to the Doc's world.

wow nice! it was 2007 when a colleague told me that laibach is the source or inspiration for the band rammstein, but i don't like rammstein so i didn't pay attention. but right now when i listen to this, and see the videos it's clear that they "copied" the style, and are definitely inspired by this band. great!

Laibach je bio samo još jedan u nizu bendova koji su iskoristili političku situaciju 1980-ih na Zapadu kako bi stekli popularnost. Njihov "provokativni" pristup, koji je više ličio na senzacionalizam nego na stvarno umetničko delo, privukao je pažnju mnogih kao svojevrsna "egzotika" iz komunističke Jugoslavije. Nazivati ih "korisnim idiotima" može biti preterano blago - oni su bili svesni svoje uloge i koristili su je kako bi došli do svojih pet minuta slave.

Kada je došlo do rušenja komunizma, Laibach je brzo pao u zaborav na Zapadu. Njihovoj "kontroverznoj" estetici i političkim stavovima više niko nije pridavao pažnju, jer su postali suviše očigledno nepoželjni u novom političkom kontekstu. Umesto da se prilagode novoj situaciji ili da nastave da stvaraju relevantnu muziku, oni su se udobno smestili u svoju ulogu "kontraverznih umetnika" i pokušali da održe svoju karijeru na temeljima prošlog veka.

Njihova tvrdnja da ih je Rammstein pokrao samo je tragikomična potvrda njihove iracionalne želje za održavanjem nekakve relevantnosti. Dok je Rammstein izgradio impresivnu karijeru i postao jedan od najpoznatijih bendova na svetu, Laibach je ostao zaglavljen u prošlosti, ogorčen što im više niko ne poklanja pažnju. Umesto da se bave besmislenim optužbama, možda bi bilo bolje da se fokusiraju na stvaranje kvalitetne muzike i umetnosti koja zaista ima neki smisao u današnjem svetu.

One Weizen, One Light Beer

When was in architecture school in the 90s, we’d be pulling all nighters and one of us had this album. We’d put it on when we needed a boost and when the time came we’d all scream “GIVE ME A LIGHT BEER!”. couldn’t believe it when I heard this song in a documentary about the Bosnian war. At the time, the hard voice against the aerobics anthem music sounded hilarious to me. I didn’t know there’s a lot more to this music/band. Rabbit hole time.
