I've read extensively about Jim Thorpe, and have never heard of him having to sleep anywhere other than a stateroom on the SS Finland, when traveling to the 1912 Olympics. Even quotes from Abel Kiviat never mention anything about that. I would love to know more about this. The mismatched shoe story is 100% true, and it was Pop Warner's knack for inventing/altering/devising athletic equipment that lead to the use of the mismatched shoes with the thicker sock on one foot. "He drank, but not to excess" is patently false. Drinking contributed to the breakup of his first marriage to Iva Thorpe. He made a concerted effort to curtail his drinking after meeting his second wife, Freeda.

ОтветитьGreat video except you didn't say where he was born, was buried, where the monument is or any of that. Nor was the movie mentioned.
ОтветитьIn high school in Oklahoma, Thorpe was only the schools second best athlete. There was another Indian bigger stronger and faster. But Thorpe stayed w it, the better athlete did not.
Imagine that fact, second best in high school. Wow
A great man as well as a great athlete. I saw the movie Jim Thorpe - All American with Bert Lancaster in 1951 and admired him ever since. It helped me realize that racial prejudice is misguided.
ОтветитьThis video was ruined by the background. Actually foreground music. You had to struggle to hear the nararater. I was going to subscribe, but couldent get past 2 min. Of this terrible editing, before i turned it off
ОтветитьI know who stole the shoes... everybody does..😢
ОтветитьWhen you mix an Indian with Irish. Unstoppable
ОтветитьThe NFL has declared that they do not recognize WA-THO-HUK's touchdowns because they happened before the establishment of their historical records. Despite this, many newspaper articles have recorded the scores, but the NFL chooses to ignore these reports.
ОтветитьSo he just tried a sport for the first time because it looked interesting and then became the best at everything?
ОтветитьPeople are people good or bad in all races but in the end the good will win
ОтветитьAmazing how the body can do what he done brings inspiration to my soul
ОтветитьTRULY, A GREAT MAN! THIS IS A PERSON WORTHY OF EVERYONE'S RESPECT AND EMULATION,
ОтветитьMy lord not just a greatest athlete but most importantly great humble man.
ОтветитьI’m related to him! Don’t know how tho
ОтветитьBest athlete ever!!
ОтветитьIn 1954, the town of Mauch Chunk was renamed as Jim Thorpe in Pennsylvania, Carbon County when Mauch Chunk and East Mauch Chunk merged.
ОтветитьIncredible man

Ответитьcan you imagine what this man could've done with the right equipment?
ОтветитьBeautiful story, indian blood will never die.
ОтветитьA life to aspire to
ОтветитьI think when his twin died, his life essence went into Jim. Consolidating their power together and creating a Native American demigod.
ОтветитьThis country needs another one of him
ОтветитьJim Thorpe was also the best football player of his generation and an accomplished professional baseball and basketball player. As well as the national collegiate ballroom dancing champion.
ОтветитьI see his picture everywhere when I was in a hospital a few weeks ago at the Jim Thorpe outpatient and inpatient facility. I was very curious to find out who this great person is.
ОтветитьThe story of Jim Thorpe by Tall Paul is amazing.
Ответитьand he also played pro basketball, pro baseball, pro football, pro golf, won a national ballroom compeition. won a national yacht race and other things i can't even think of. also in that same olympics, he qualified for the individual high jump, long jump and 100 yard dash and placed 4th in high jump 7th in long jump and 11th in running.
he would have gone to another olympic game but after he got back, the comittee discoverd he played baseball during the summer at that time and got paid 5 bucks for the summer which il isk 1000 dollars in 2023. not very much money. other people did that but did not use their real named. he had no idea about such things and was hoenst. but they stripped im of his medals even though bseball had zilch to do with the sports he compted in. and not returend to his family til like 20 years ago.
That was heartfelt ❤
ОтветитьI miss chsrley😢
ОтветитьI'd rather watch a movie about Jim Thorpe, than the same old capeshit movies.
ОтветитьAsterisk......African Americans were not allowed to compete in the Olympics at that time.
ОтветитьLegend
ОтветитьWow! So with all odds against him and terrible prejudice this man went on to become a legendary athlete and an inspiration to millions. Talk about perseverance and strength 💪🏽I have so much respect for Jim Thorpe.
ОтветитьWhat a champion. incredible
Ответитьis this guy trying to say 'soux' sox?
