It might not have been the truck driver at fault in this case -- too early to assign blame.
However, I drive that stretch several times a year, and I'm astounded at how many speeding trucks I encounter, many of them tail-gating or doing reckless lane changes to go 1-mile per hour faster. Truck driving is a profession -- bad drivers should be rare on the freeways, not something you encounter every 10 minutes.🙄

I-15 from barstow, ca to las vegas, nv &;I-40 from barstow, ca to needles, ca are two of those stretches of interstate that always have a good amount of traffic flow, even from 1 am-6 am!! Peoole never seem to go home & rest on those two stretches of road!!

Praying for those stuck in high temps and using critical gas to keep air conditioner running.

Law Enforcemenr needs to bring fuel and water and find a way for vehicles to get across the desert

She should have turned around and went South on the 15 all the way to the 10 or she could have cut through Hesperia and drop down onto the 62 that would have taken her to the 95 north and she would have been in Vegas the back way.

I guess I consider myself a very seasoned traveler, driving these routes I don't never leave home without checking traffic advisories, and I don't even trust them so my normal route out the 91fwy is to pull up all of the traffic cameras on my computer and look for myself to make sure traffic is flowing and not backed up.

Not very smart to be in traffic stuck for that long. The center divider is a dirt road on it. It will not hurt your car turn around and head back and take a different route like hwy 40 maybe 😂 🤷‍♂️ it must be the heat that caused their brains to buffer

No internet on the 15? That's odd .... I've been over that route literally hundreds of times over the last 40 years as a long haul trucker. Once we got phones that could connect to the web, I've had internet service on that whole route.

If it's any consolation, I'm safe at home.

This was dumb as dumb could be. The authorities were not caring about the 10's of thousands of people at all, they could have made the other direction of traffic into 1 lane going each way & have cars cross over, there were a few places that even semi's could cross. But no, they just made everyone sit there idling for hours.

No information of what was happening. This is a problem if you are a citizen of the US. You are left stranded. Officials do not even guarantee your right as an informed public. Survival is up to you. Up against tornadoes or toxic waste explosions there is very little one single person can do to survive such odds but that is what policies expect of you is the absurd system of American politics. Totally uncalled for in an age when it would be nothing to have a drone report what was happening, a fly over, and a report to all cell phones would inform everyone what is happening and what to expect. But how do emergency crews get a tow and lift truck through to the wreck when the major highway is clogged with standstill traffic? This poses the question that one road is not enough in desert environments, perhaps a second road or extended lane has to be built to allow the flow of traffic through. If a safer driving experience is what you want than you should demand your government start slapping fines and criminal offenses on transport companies on what not to do when transporting hazardous material.
