Yes the correct way not open a string lots of us have been making that mistake no doubt Tom plays the fifth fret

I've been playing it with the open d string for years, seems to be much easier to hit that second d in the riff that Marty is missing here but I always try to utilize open strings when I can just for efficiency

Does anyone know what pedal/effect Marty is using here?

In the opening riff, Delonge hits D (5th fret on A) twice, not once.

I’m 32 but this makes me want to go to my parent house, lock myself in a room and blast some Blink

I'm having trouble understanding how he's able to make the other strings quiet after playing them in the first part. I got the fretting patterns down with no issue. But the other strings are still vibrating after I lift off of them. Example: After I play the 3rd fret on the E from the 2nd part of the intro, when I go to fret the 5th fret of the A string, the E string is still vibrating some when I lift off of it. And that trend keeps going for the other notes and it's gunking it up. If I palm mute it, it sounds completely different. How do I get that single note at a time sound without hearing the other strings?

I hope that makes sense. It's really frustrating me lol. How exactly is he making each individual string on it's own make noise without hearing the reverb from the other strings?

It's so rare for me not to find a tutorial with you teaching Marty, I've been learning from you for years now. If I would have been putting in the effort to practice regularly I might be half way decent by now. Who would've thought once I became an adult 30 spare minutes would be so hard to come by?

It’s a 2-2-1 pattern on the main ride, whereas Marty plays it 2-1-1, which is incorrect. Not hating, love the guys channel, just trying to help. So it would go, C, C, A, A, E then G, G, A, A, E and so on.
